I built my PC about a year ago, maybe less, everything was fine up until I got some nasty viruses. Last week I backed up all my data and decided to reinstal windows. Everything went fine, I reformatted the harddrive with NTFS, windows copied the setup files to the HD, windows rebooted the pc and went to the installation, then at the installation screen, I get the following error message- ********** Fatal Error: One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed. A component's file does not match the verification information present on the component manifest. ********** Reading the error log, it reads: ********** Error: SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\1386\asms\10\MSFT\Window\GDIPLUS.MAN" on line 4. Installation failed: D\1386\asms Error Message: A component's file does not match the verification information present on the component manifest. ********* Okay, so that was about one week ago. Unfortunately, right after I got the error message, I had to leave the house shortly for vacation. So I took the notes, powered down the PC, and left. Last night I returned home, with intentions to try installing Windows once agian. I reformatted the drive agian, same thing happens, gets to the same point, then same error message. Ive retried it 5 times, still no luck. Ive searched all over the database on Ms's support site, cant seem to come accross anything. I have no idea where to go now. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch in advance. -Dan #1 love2skate824, Aug 31, 2006 Lord Evermore
