Char was trying to remove Quicken and got the fatal error message. Char, I am going to list this answer as a tip on the tip page also for you. Char the error 1603 fatal error during installation fatal error message means it is already gone. However it is still on the list of programs. To get rid of it you need to go into the registry as follows: Click run and type regedit. Click on + sign for HKeyLocalMachine Click on + sign for software Click on + sign for Mirosoft Click on + sign for Windows Click on + sign for Uninstall Scroll down and look at all the installed programs and if you see quicken delete it. It’s a long tree that opens so use the up and down arrows on the keyboard to scroll through the installed programs. As you scroll look in the right hand pane for publisher and it tell you who’s program it is. After you delete the quicken file open ‘ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS’ again and you will notice it is NO LONGER ON THE LIST. PS Back up the registry by clicking on file and export the registry to your desktop before you start in case you screw it up...it can be restored. __________________ Desktop MSI G860 Jimmy Carter View Public Profile Visit Jimmy Carter's homepage! mrchibai03-01-2007, 02:25 PMDear all, I am getting the error "Fatal error during installation" when I try to uninstall. Since my co-worker is having the same problem with another project, I figure I'm not just lucky, something is wrong. We are both making web projects. I found this related topic: http://community.macrovision.com/showthread.php?t=165332&highlight=fatal+error but was unable to find the file he is talking about changing. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem and what I should do about uninstalling it? Another related question, how do I find the uninstall log? I found the default install log by typing cd %temp% in the command prompt. It started with MSI and ended with .log, but this install log was not much help. abhishek.pandey03-02-2007, 01:00 AM"Fatal error during installation" may be seen for various reasons. You must check the log file before you can start troubleshooting your installer. You said you are working on a web project so basically it's nothing but the basic msi installer which you are creating. You can generate the uninstall log by re-running the original msi (which you use to install the application) with the following command line options: msiexec /uninstall
