I am trying to uninstall JAVA 6, Update 26. I fatal error first deleted the actual program files. But when I went to Add/Remove Programs on my Control Panel, it was still there! I clicked on the Remove button for Java. A Windows Installer box pops up saying "Please wait while Windows configures Java" and then "Fatal Error During Installation". I tried redownloading JAVA 6-26, but it didn't work because I already had JAVA "installed". I tried downloading JAVAra, and now, there's a Java Auto Updater program on the Add/Remove Programs fatal error during page that doesn't even have a "Remove" program button! Could someone please, please help me get rid of Java 6-26 and the Auto updater?? They aren't viruses, are they?!? What you see in the control panel are registry entries that link to the now non existend uninstaller. To get rid of those wrong entries i recommend you use CCleaner, which checks your registry for invalid entries. That should clean up the list in Add/Remove programs in your control panel. And no, they are not viruses. But if you want to be absolutley sure on that, i recommend running a virus scan. share|improve this answer answered Nov 1

There is this entry in add/remove programs called Showinfo. It is apparently made by Linksador. I couldn't find the installer file and the linksador folder in program files has a showinfo subfolder and is empty. I even enabled show hidden folders to see if any folders were hidden. Here is the problem. The ShowInfo entry in add/remove programs is stuck there, and I can't seem to get rid of it. It is gone everywhere else, except for in add/remove programs. This has been there for a long time, long before the XP end of support date, and I would like to get rid of it to do some cleanup on my XP machine. I also checked under regedit, HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and I couldn't find the entry related to Linksador or ShowInfo. Because of the end of support, this machine has been offline for a few months now. If there are any fixes, I do not want to reconnect my PC to the internet. If I need to down
