I have moved content of one .rc file to main rc file. The compiler had problem to include ICONs from two resources. I have no idea why but this is clear and simple solution. share|improve this answer answered Jul 9 '15 at 19:26 user1141649 5083925 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Goog

See more: C++ Visual-Studio MFC VS2010 I have been trying to find a solution for the following linker error, and have tried a few solutions which have not worked. This is the error: 1>CVTRES : fatal error CVT1100: duplicate resource. type:VERSION, name:VS_VERSION_INFO, language:0x0409 1>LINK : fatal error LNK1123: failure during conversion to COFF: file invalid or corrupt I realize that this is telling me I have a duplicate resource, but I can't seem to find the problem file with the version number. I have tried to enable progress on the linker, checked my incremental linking, and tried to search my .rc files.....are there any suggestions of where else to look to overcome this? Thanks, Andr
I've checked the MSDN and It say that I may have a duplicate resource or my resource file is corrupted. I think it comes from the resource "Version_Info". I had three of them (one for release, debug and reldbg). Each Version_Info is managing 4 different languages. I have 4 section by version_file. But I don't see anything in double, and my file doesn't seem to be corrupted as I can load it successfully. Someone told me that it may be a bug of CVTRES.exe and that this bug is fixed in the Service Pack 4 for Visual C++. I installed it but it's not correcting the problem. Do you have an Idea? Thanx I had the same error today. I was upgrading 2 apps from 16 bit to 32 bit. The first app also has a batch file that builds a library and makes resources available for the second app to use. I got the error when building the second app. Some resources in the first project were manually separated into a shared_first_resources.h and a shared_first_resources.rc. If you view shared_first_resources.rc as a text file, at the end there is an include first_application.rc2. first_application.rc2 contains version information for the 1st app. It may be that this was harmless before the resource editor supported versions. Anyway, comment the out the first_application.rc2 from shared_first_resources.rc and the error ceases when building the second app. J.
