1, though the fault could be elsewhere (motherboard, perhaps). The Hardware Owners Manual says that this error occurs when the specified CPU (CPU 1 in your case) reports an internal error. If you have a hardware warranty, call Dell in the morning. If you don't have a hardware warranty, then you are on your own. If this is a single CPU machine, you will have to try to could try to obtain a replacement CPU, which will be much easier with it being a single CPU machine, as you won't be trying to match the specification of an existing CPU. However, you must keep to the processor compatibility of your machine - the 5400 series processors only work in 2900 III machines, and 5300 series processors only work in 2900 II and III machines. I believe support for the older processors was dropped in the newer machines. If this is a dual CPU machine, you could remove and store CPU 1 and move CPU 2 to the CPU 1 socket to see if the machine will now boot. Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderat

backup server I or better we, the customer and me, faced massive hardware problems. To be a bit more precise, we were working dell poweredge 2950 e1410 system fatal error on two identical Dell PowerEdge R710 servers which both worked fine for months. We decided to re-configure the local NIC teams (BACS) to use all four onboard Broadcom BCM5709C NetXtreme II interfaces. About two hours later the first system http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/956/t/19088825 started to crash randomly. A day later we got the same problem with the second system. Both servers performed complete power cycles and stopped at the POST with a critical error notification. No Bluescreen No memory dump No helpful Windows logs The only error was error was logged by the iDRAC / OMSA log: Critical,"Wed Jan 29 2014 05:53:25″,"A bus fatal error was detected on a component at bus 0 device 0 function 0." Critical,"Tue Jan 28 2014 06:37:05″,"CPU http://vtricks.com/dell-poweredge-r710-and-sudden-crashes/ 1 has an internal error (IERR)." The error was identical on both servers, but the primary system which usually faces way more load, crashed more often. Because the error messages didn’t indicate a problem a PCIe device like a RAID controller or the RAM AND the CPU error has NOT been logged every time the system crashed, Dell decided to replace the mainboard. The system was not even back in production, it crashed again. Next try, this time Dell replaced the CPU. Guess what? Right, it took not even one hour and the system was offline again. The next step was to perform some Dell & 3rd party hardware diagnostic & load test and all passed with NO errors. Then we reviewed all changes we performed on both system and the only thing both servers had in common (which was kind of hardware related) were the changed we made to the NIC teams. We re-configured the team as mentioned above and attached two additional cables (from 2 to 4). As soon as the customer removed those two cables (from 4 back to 2) the system was way more stable, but not completely. The system was up for one or two days before it crashed again. So it hat to be related to the onboard network adapter. The final step was to upgraded to the latest firmware version 7.8.0 and driver 18.2.0 and s

Running validation... Unfortunately they crash (reboot) when installing the recent 12.04 Server 64bit (ubuntu-12.04-server-amd64.iso) (and after that the idrac-logfile says:"CPU 2 has an internal error (IERR)." ) A 32bit-kernel boots, but freezes when transferring data over the net. I can reproduce the behaviour on both the machines we got. Can anyone give a hint? I cannot believe that both machines have a hardware-problem. nd Adv Reply September 1st, 2012 #2 macindy View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message First Cup of Ubuntu Join Date Sep 2012 Beans 1 Re: R620 crash with 12.04 Think we have the quite same problem. I have installed also Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on our new 9G Dell R420 server. Under load the CPUs asserts IERR error. I phoned with Dell, the dell technician told me, it is not a hardware error. I also think so, because the IERR errors happens on both server, always they get load. I read something, the driver could cause this. How to get an idea, what could be
