The path needs to be surrounded by quotes for the project to compile correctly. On the Configuration Properties -> Linker -> Input tab of the project’s properties, there is an Additional Dependencies property. This issue was fixed by changing this property from: C:\Program Files\sofware sdk\lib\library.lib To: " C:\Program Files\sofware sdk\lib\library.lib" share|improve this answer edited Sep 25 '08 at 14:40 answered Sep 25 '08 at 14:33 Josh Sklare 2,38421417 11 God you've just hanged two day's bug chase to 30 second one :) –jb. If your Linker is correct but your lib directory is set incorrectly the same error may come up. Try looking in Configuration Properties -> VC++ directories -> Library Directories to see if you set the library correctly. Sometimes the lib folder consists of a x86 and a x64 folder. You have to set it to one of those (depending on your compiler) rather than the folder containing both. –M4st3rM1nd Apr 28 '13 at 22:56 3 not solved for me –denfromufa Aug 28 '14 at 4:13 | show

That fixed it for me, though I was seeing this with static libs and not executables. –Skrymsli Jul 13 '11 at 19:38 Thanks, @Skrymsli, disabling "Enable .NET Framework source stepping" did the trick for me. I updated the connect page linked by Cody Gray with this workaround. –Helge Klein Jun 26 '12 at 21:12 add a comment| 14 Answers 14 active oldest votes up vote 34 down vote accepted Had this issue after a reinstall today. I have installed OpenCV according to installation guide http://answers.opencv.org/question/4276/link-fatal-error-lnk1104-cannot-open-file-opencv_core242dlib/ and also when i type code i don't receive any error message from intellisense (that means that it was configured properly?!). But when it comes to building i always receive this error: LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'opencv_core242d.lib'. I use Visual Studio 2012 (32 bit), Windows 8 (64 bit). * edit retag flag offensive close merge delete add a comment 6 fatal error answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 6 answered 2012-11-18 05:47:41 -0500 Crash 131 ●1 ●4 ●8 Yeah as I remember I had a similar troubles with that damn paths when installed OpenCv for the first time.
