(I have downloaded the correct/updated drivers from the HP website) My Printer is an "HP Photosmart C4380" and the operating system i am running is "Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit" My previous computer was running the "Windows 7 Professional 64bit" and worked perfectly. If i just plug in the printer the drivers are automatically installed by windows so i can use the printer except for things like scanning. I believe that the drivers installation is causing the problem so if anyone can find out how to only install the HP Printing Software and not the drivers i think this might work. Thanks for your help! Are you quite certain that you have the software and drivers for 64bit operation. You will need to install all the drivers to allow full functionalit

I recently got a new HP laptop and I already had a HP Deskjet F4580 printer. When installing it on my old laptop with vista it worked fine. Now i've tried installing it on my new windows 7 laptop and I keep having fatal errors during the installation, I have tried it twice and downloaded the latest software and it still didn't work!! Any ideas???? Thanks RainbowRen, Sep 28, 2010 #1 Sponsor etaf Wayne Moderator Joined: Oct 2, 2003 Messages: 60,898 are you installing this as a USB device or is it using the wireless on a router I have installed a couple of these using windows 7 and adding to a wireless network I suspect your windows 7 is 64 bit - and the drivers if needed are here for windows 7 64bit http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...en&cc=uk&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3944758#N661 I would download the drivers and then do not have the printer connected run the program and it will ask you to plug the printer in the user manual is here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01859574.pdf This shows how to install http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01859552.pdf etaf, Sep 28, 2010 #2 RainbowRen Thread Starter Joined: Sep 28, 2010 Messages: 3 I am installing it as a usb device you have to do that even before you do it as wireless. I did download the driver but it still came up with fatal errors during installation. So far I've never made it to the bit where it asks you to plug the usb in! :/ RainbowRen, Sep 28, 2010 #3 etaf Wayne Moderator Joined: Oct 2, 2003 Messages: 60,898 whats the fatal error message Have you installed any other programs before ?
