Disconnect the printer from the laptop. Reboot. Download and install CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com). Open CCleaner and run both its cleanup function and registry cleaner (scan for issues). This is a gently registry cleaner and you can safely delete anything it finds (although have it backup changes just as a precaution). Reboot. But user really wants to use the "Scan to" button on the printer. -Did disk clean-up -Deleted printer driver, port. -Removed temporary files. -Disabled start-up items and services in MSCONFIG. -Ran HP printer removal tool. -Downloaded the latest version of the software from HP website. (Version 4) -Still got the error when installing software. Solution: -Called HP and bought 5 days support. -They provided the FTP site link with the temporary login account. -Downloaded the software.
