I can start a new project and select the CUDA 6.0 Runtime, but when I try to compile, it apparently can't find the object file. This is the output for the sample code that comes when creating a CUDA project, although I get the same problem even if it's just a normal C program without any CUDA syntax. Here is the full output I get when building kernel.cu: 1>------ Build started: Project: Temp, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ 1>Build started 08/06/2014 13:14:40. 1>PrepareForBuild: 1> Creating directory "d:\my documents\visual studio 2012\Projects\Temp\Debug\". 1>InitializeBuildStatus: 1> Creating "Debug\Temp.unsuccessfulbuild" because "AlwaysCreate" was specified. 1>CudaBuild: 1> Compiling CUDA source file kernel.cu... 1> 1> D:\Programming>"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v6.0\bin\nvcc.exe" -gencode=arch=compute_10,code=\"sm_10,compute_10\" --use-local-env --cl-version 2012 -ccbin "D:\Programs\VC\bin" -I"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v6.0\include" -I"C:\Program Files\NVIDIA GPU Computing Toolkit\CUDA\v6.0\include" -G --keep-dir Debug -maxrregcount=0 --machine 32 --compile -cudart static -g -DWIN32 -D_DEBUG -D_CONSOLE -D_MBCS -Xcompiler "/EHsc /W3 /nologo /Od /Zi /RTC1 /MDd " -o Debug\kernel.cu.obj "d:\my documents\visual studio 2012\Projects\Temp\

According to their documentation (p.333), I can link the third fatal error party library needed for their C++ program by using cl myproject.cpp /MD /link "C:/Program Files (x86)/Gwb9/src/GWBplugin90.lib" But I can't use this line without getting a fatal error "C1083: Cannot open compiler generated file: 'myproject.obj': Permission denied". So I created a new project (where I have all the rights fatal error c1083 of reading, writing and everything else access), in Visual Studio 2010 (the 2008 gives me the same problems), I copy-pasted the programs as we can find them in the documentation, and built it with the following "LNK1120" fatal error: 1>------ Build started: Project: pipe_GWB9_PlugIn_2008, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------1>Linking...1>myproject.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: int __thiscall GWBplugin::results(void *,char const *,char const *,int, int)" (?results@GWBplugin@@QAEHPAXPBD1HH@Z) referenced in function _main1>myproject.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: int __thiscall GWBplugin::exec_cmd(char *)" (?exec_cmd@GWBplugin@@QAEHPAD@Z) referenced in function _main1>myproject.obj: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: int __thiscall GWBplugin::initialize(char const *,char const *,char const *)" (?initialize@GWBplugin@@QAEHPBD00@Z) referenced in function _main1>myproject.obj: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall GWBplugin::GWBplugin(struct _iobuf *)" (??0GWBplugin@@QAE@PAU_iobuf@@@Z) referenced in function _main1>myproject.obj: error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: __thiscall GWBplugin::~GWBplugin(void)" (??1GWBplugin@@QAE@XZ) referenced in function "public: void * __thiscall GWBplugin::`scalar deleting destructor'(unsigned int)" (??_GGWBplugin@@QAEPAXI@Z)1>myprojec

I read one answer where a responder said to right click and 'install as admininstrator', so I re-installed Visual C++again that way,but to no avail. I then went to the 'VC' folder, as that seems to be where the '.obj' files are written and removed the 'read only' property, but still no luck. I am compiling using the Visual Studio Command Prompt with the instructions: 'cl /EHsc c:\dvlp\simple.cpp'. I also have Visual C++ 2010 Express installed on my Windows XP computer at work, and have had no problems using the same program and methods. I am a beginner into the Microsoft Visual Studio environment, but was a great C programmer in past years. Tuesday, August 10, 2010 10:44 AM Answers 2 Sign in to vote Hi Gene, The problem seems to be a permission issue in windows 7. Install Visual Studio with Administrator is no help in your case. If you are using IDE to build the project, you need to open the IDE with administrator. If want to use command prompt, you need to open the Visual Studio Command Prompt as administrator. Start Icon -> All programs -> Visual C++ 2010 Express -> Visual Studio Tools -> right click on Visual Studio Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator. If you have any concern, please let me know. Cheers, YiPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they
