I am receiving the following error. 1>c:\users\numerical25\desktop\intro todirectx\introtodirectx\chapter 4\init direct3d\init direct3d.cpp(9) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'd3dApp.h': No such file or directory But clearly from the image shown below, its there In oppose to other people who are having issues finding the header on the physical drive. the compiler can http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2630082/fatal-error-c1083-cannot-open-include-file not find my header from within the solution explorer. visual-c++ include projects-and-solutions share|improve this question edited Apr 17 '10 at 18:23 Jon Seigel 9,49754381 asked Apr 13 '10 at 13:59 numerical25 3,8802291174 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 12 down vote accepted What you see in the left pane of the IDE has absolutely nothing to do with whether the file is there or not there. "Solution Explorer" does not explore the actual files present in the file system, it simply shows you which files are registered as parts of this solution. In order for the code to compile, the file must be present in the file system of your computer in one of the paths that the specified as search paths for header files of this solution. It is not present, hence the error. share|improve this answer answered Apr 13 '10 at 14:10 AnT 202k25293525 ok, what you said makes alot of sense but I am just a little confused on what to do next. Should I create a folder called Headers and put the header file in it physically. Then add it to the include directories ?? I always thought all files in the

I also fatal error c1083 tried entering it under Configuration Properties->Debugging->Environment as a "PATH=<...>" value. The path is: U:\Software Development\c++ projects\myProject\myProject, and when I go to that folder, I can see myProject.h in the folder. #include "stdafx.h" #include
in it's manual.. Even after including all the header and source files, I keep getting "fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file" error for the main library header file.. I tried all the combinations of "" and <>. Also tried to remove .h but nothing works. I tried putting the header file in the directory too.. Any help would be highly appreciated.. Many thanks, Abhijit Oct 29, 2009 at 3:39am UTC firedraco (6199) If you put it in one of the compiler's "standard" directories, you should only have to use < >. Are you sure it is not inside a folder or something? Oct 29, 2009 at 4:04am UTC abhipro (20) Hi, It's in another folder not related to the standard directories.. but now... when i included the entire path.. "D:\...\ ... xyz.h", it worked fine. Although it worked, I think this is not the right way. Any suggestions.. Regards, Abhi Oct 29, 2009 at 4:24am UTC firedraco (6199) Move it to one of the standard directories. You could also add the path to the list of directories in your compiler. Oct 29, 2009 at 5:03am UTC abhipro (20) Hi firedraco, Thank you for your help. It worked well.. Regards, Abhi Topic archived.
