Fatal Error C1083 Cannot Open Include File 'stdio.h' No Such File Or Directory
Compile Error: Cannot open precompiled header.pch — No such file or directory up vote 1 down vote favorite I have recently purchased the text "Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++" by Bjarne Stroustrup and have been following it through. I am currently stuck on an early project, where I need to output some strings of text. Using Visual Studio Community 2015 update 1, fatal error c1083 cannot open include file 'unistd.h' no such file or directory on a Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro laptop, I have attempted to compile the project but have ran into an error detailed: "Cannot open precompiled header file: Debug\Finding the Upstairs Bathroom.pch': No such file or directory". The name of the project is aptly named "Finding the Upstairs Bathroom.cpp". Here is the code: // I have the headers "stdafx.h" as well as this specific header lib // Bjarne Stroustrup created and which I had linked // called "../../std_lib_facilities.h", which contains the standard C++ lib functions. (#) define _SILENCE_STDEXT_HASH_DEPRECATION_WARNINGS 1 int main()`// Main function` { cout << "Take the key out of your right pants pocket\n"; // Outputs string of text cout << "Unlock the front door of the house\n"; cout << "Open the front door and step inside\n"; cout << "Lock the front door using the key\n"; cout << "Move up the stairs, taking them two at a time\n"; cout << "Walk to the second door on the left and face it directly\n"; cout << "Using the door handle, turn it and push the door forward\n"; cout << "Enter the bathroom while leaving the door open

Restarting the build then produces the following output: ------ Build started: Project: YYY, Configuration: Debug Win32 ------ MyFile1.cpp d:\YYY\MyFile1.cpp(16): fatal error C1083: Cannot open precompiled header file: 'Debug\YYY.pch': No such file or directory MyFile2.cpp d:\YYY\MyFile2.cpp(16): fatal error C1083: Cannot open precompiled header file: 'Debug\YYY.pch': No such file or directory MyFile3.cpp d:\YYY\MyFile3.cpp(16): fatal error C1083: Cannot fatal error c1083 open precompiled header file: 'Debug\YYY.pch': No such file or directory ... et cetera ... et cetera Well - I got the message - the PCH file is corrupted and needs to be recreated. So what? Why do I have to tell VS to do a clean build of the affected project? Can't the compiler detect a missing or corrupted generated file itself and retrigger a clean rebuild? Submit Posted by Microsoft on 3/18/2011 at 1:15 PM Hi,I don't think this is quite the same issue as 626218. It looks to me like that issue had to do with the build system knowing to rebuild the PCH if it had been deleted. This issue has to do with the compiler recognizing a co
program in release mode to increase performance. I am running visual c++ 2010 express. My program runs fine in debug mode but when I try to run it in release mode I get the following message for all my cpp files: Error 1 error C1083: Cannot open precompiled header file: 'Release\file.pch': No such file or directory What does this error mean and how do I fix it?????? May 9, 2012 at 5:45am UTC Zhuge (4639) You probably have your release mode settings set differently from the debug, and the release is check for some precompiled header. If you go into the options, you can adjust that. I'd also run through the other options and compare your release to debug and see if anything else needs changing. May 9, 2012 at 9:39am UTC codekiddy (783) Error 1 error C1083: Cannot open precompiled header file: 'Release\file.pch': No such file or directory You got the anser from you output :) You have to create a precompiled header your self because visual studio does not do that for you (it does only first time) Here are the steps on how to solve this problem: Set up your compiler to release mode. Right click on solution and click clean solution. Right click your poject name and naviage to: Configuration properties > C\C++ > Precomiled headers > Precomiled header > set to Creae \Yc Click OK and close property page. Hit F7 to build your solution. Now you have created an precompiled header, Next do this: Right click your poject name and naviage to: Configuration properties > C\C++ > Precomiled headers > Precomiled header > set to Use \Yu Click OK and close property page. Hit F7 to build your solution. Hit F5 to start debuging. Hope this help. edit: This of course assumes you have a header in yuor project whose name is the same as one stored in Configuration properties > C\C++ > Precomiled headers > Precompiled header file.
