The function is defined in core/includes/session.inc so I'm not sure if Drush or Drupal core is to blame. Drush member weitzman commented Dec 11, 2013 All we do is call drupal_cron_run() which is a drupal function. See http://api.drush.org/api/drush/commands%21core%21core.drush.inc/function/drush_core_cron/master. If we need to do some more stuff beforehand, we can.
