I am trying to uninstall JAVA 6, Update 26. I first deleted the actual program files. But when I went to Add/Remove Programs on my Control Panel, it was still there! I clicked on the Remove button for Java. A Windows Installer box http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13172727/windows-add-remove-programs-uninstalling-java-6-update-26-fatal-error-during pops up saying "Please wait while Windows configures Java" and then "Fatal Error During Installation". I tried redownloading JAVA 6-26, but it didn't work because I already had JAVA "installed". I tried downloading JAVAra, and now, there's a Java Auto Updater program on the Add/Remove Programs page that doesn't even have a "Remove" program button! Could someone please, please help me get rid of Java 6-26 and the Auto updater?? They aren't viruses, are they?!? Thanks in advance. java windows-xp share|improve this question asked Nov 1 '12 at 7:25 yatinbc 1483820 closed as off topic by maba, chris, Aleks G, UmNyobe, jrtc27 Nov 1 '12 at 9:11 Questions on Stack Overflow are expected to relate to programming within the scope defined by the community. There is this entry in add/remove programs called Showinfo. It is apparently made by Linksador. I couldn't find the installer file and the linksador folder in program files has a showinfo subfolder and is empty. I even enabled show hidden folders to see if any folders were hidden. Here is the problem. The ShowInfo entry in add/remove programs is stuck there, and I can't seem to get rid of it. It is gone everywhere else, except for in add/remove programs. This has been there for a long time, long before the XP end of support date, and I would like to get rid of it to do some cleanup on my XP machine. I also checked under regedit, HI
