Go to Run -> Run As -> Run configurations again and in the recently created JUnit configuration Classpath's Bootstrap Entries remove Android Library Then Add Library, using Advanced... button, and add JRE System Library and JUnit 3 Apply and Run Try this, it worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Jul 11 '10 at 17:10 Fredrik 7,91333166 1 This worked for me at least................ Thanks ........... +1 to you –viv Sep 20 '10 at 5:41 Thanks for the hint! Perfect! –guerda Nov 30 '10 at 20:38 Perfect. Now the question is why that's added in the first place. –pitx3 Dec 26 '10 at 15:26 Great! Before your fix, the test case I created for an Android app was launched on the smartphone (and failed). Now I can run a usual JUnit test on the PC ;) –java.is.for.desktop Jun 15 '11 at 20:00 +1 Fixes normal Console Apps as well. –Sydwell Apr 20 '14 at 9:22 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote You'll need to take this up with Sun -- looks like a JVM bug t

But are the fatal fatal error error and exception the same thing or they are different.Or there is no concept of fatal error in java? I searched google but it was quite confusing. java exception runtime-error share|improve this question edited Mar 30 at 12:34 Honza Zidek 2,98411933 asked Mar 30 at 12:23 user6134582 2 Are you sure you know the difference between Error and Exception? Because there is a RuntimeException, so if you thought that Error is somehow specific to runtime, you're java runtime environment wrong. –Kayaman Mar 30 at 12:27 I refereed this-> Both java.lang.Error and java.lang.Exception classes are sub classes of java.lang.Throwable class, but there exist some significant differences between them. java.lang.Error class represents the errors which are mainly caused by the environment in which application is running. It just depends upon how they are handled (or not) as to whether that error/exception causes termination of the JVM. Note that errors generally should not be caught; some exceptions should be. –Andy Turner Mar 30 at 12:32 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted Read the Java tutorial on Exceptions. For short explanation you may use this small guide. See the class diagram with the Java Exception hierarchy (red) and a few examples (blue) in each category. Throwable: the common ancestor of anything which can be thrown (and caught) using the Java exception mechanism. Error: you may think about Errors as about what you call "fatal exception". It usually does not make sense to even try any recovery of the application. OutOfMemoryError or StackOverflowError are such fatal errors that y
