Java Uninstall Fatal Error

0 35536 views 05/28/2009 Supporting Windows I've encountered a problem whilst trying to uninstall Java(TM) 6 Update 13... I go into Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs and consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or msdn for more information scroll down to remove Java from my system. I click remove and add remove programs fatal error during installation it comes up with the window "Add or Remove Programs: Are you sure you want to remove Java(TM)

6 Update 13 from your computer". I click yes and it says "Preparing to remove" then configuring java.. and then come up with the window:"Fatal Error During Installation" I've tried

Or.. since java's alread written to my registry.. can I use my use the java on my iPod (6 update 13 [OS:Windows]) as my default java? because that may very well fix my problem entirely. Go to the C:\Program Files folder, then delete the entire Java folder. 2. Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files folder, then delete the entire Java folder. 3. Go to the C:\WINDOWS folder, then delete the entire Java folder. 4. Go to Start - Run - REGEDIT - OK, then click the + in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Uninstall Start from the top and click each folder in the "Uninstall" list until you find a Java(TM) 6 Update entry in the right pane. Right-click the folder in the "Uninstall" list that pertains to that java version, then click Delete - Yes. Continue down the list of folders in the "Uninstall" list until you've found and deleted the ones for all the java versions. 5. CAUSE This error, seen during the installation process, indicates https://java.com/en/download/help/error_1603.xml that an installation did not complete. Meanwhile you can try the following to install Java. Option 1: Restart your system and uninstall old versions Restart your system before installing Once you fatal error see the 1603 error, restart your system. Download and install the offline installer package. When prompted, choose Save in the download dialog box, and save the download package in a convenient place (e.g. save on the desktop). Double click on the downloaded installation file to start the installation process. Uninstall Java versions before installing If fatal error during the above instructions fail to resolve the issue, it is recommended that you uninstall all existing Java versions from the system. Reboot the system after you uninstall all Java versions, before trying to install. Option 2: Disable Java content through the Java Control Panel This option disables Java content in the browser prior to installing. Once you see the 1603 error, close the installer. Find and launch the Java Control Panel Uncheck (de-select) Enable Java content in the browser option In the Java Control Panel, click the Security tab. Uncheck the option Enable Java content in the browser. Click Apply and then OK to confirm the changes. Reinstall Java and re-enable Java content in the browser Download and install the offline installer package. After the installation has completed, re-enable the option to Enable Java content in the browser, if you require running Java content in the browser. The first guy because he apparently doesn't know how to install and uninstall programs, the sysadmin team because apparently they have given access with installation rights to one of your servers to someone who shouldn't be able to install programs on it.
