This discussion is locked Brohan Level 1 (0 points) Q: MacBook has fatal error on startup Hi,My macbook has gta iv fatal error unable to create depth render target just this morning - when I needed to email an assignment to a gta 4 mac professor of course - has started to experience fatal errors on startup. The computer starts up normally, and once the directx download desktop has loaded, a dialog comes up saying something along the lines of "Mac OS X has experienced a fatal error and must restart in 3 seconds." I brought it quickly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPrRV_CgTh4 to an authorized apple service store, but they couldn't do anything for the problem except start a program right when the dialog came up to block the shutdown process. However, I had to go to school, so while I was in class I downloaded TechTool Deluxe and I've been running it. It hasn't found any errors, so I don't know what to think https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1780428?tstart=0 about the startup problem. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with fatal errors on startup? Also, the technician who helped me this morning said that it could be either a problem with hardware or software, but that if it was a problem with software, the diagnostic would not be covered by AppleCare. Since I'm trying to save as much money as possible as a student, does anyone have any tips as to determining whether this is a software issue, so I don't have to pay for a diagnostic check-up?Thanks in advance! (June 2011) (Learn how and when to remove this template message) In many computer operating systems, a special type of error message will display onscreen when the system has experienced a fatal error. Computer users https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_of_death have dubbed these messages screens of death as they typically result in unsaved work being lost and often indicate serious problems with the system's hardware or software. Screens of death are usually the result of a kernel panic, although the terms are frequently used interchangeably. Most screens of death are displayed on an even background color with a message advising the user to restart the computer. It can also be referred as a "black screen of death" as it is on top of a black background. This version was first used in Mac OS X 10.6. The Blue Screen of Death (also called gta iv fatal BSoD, Stop error, or blue screen) is a common name for a screen displayed by the Microsoft Windows operating system when a system error occurs. Certain other systems and devices, including Android and the iPhone 5S, have also been known to display a blue screen in certain unexpected situations. The Grey Screen of Death (also called GSoD) appears on the Microsoft Surface RT following a Windows Update in May 2015. The device will regularly fail to resume and instead will simply enable the screen back-light, making the screen look grey.[1] A Black Screen of Death (also called BkSoD) is a failure mode of Microsoft Windows 3.x and also appears in iOS, showing only the Apple logo after everything goes black (this happens when the device freezes). A Red Screen of Death (also called RSoD) appears in early beta versions of Windows Vista (also appeared in some early build versions of Windows 98) and is also the color of the fatal error screen on PlayStation consoles. The Kindle Fire shows a red screen when it is "bricked". The Purple Screen of Death (also called PSoD) is used by VMware ESX Server, a server virtualization product by VMware, Inc. It is displayed in the event of a fatal kernel error. The screen provi
