Nmake Fatal Error U1077 Rc Return Code 0x1
Remove From My Forums Answered by: NMAKE : fatal error U1077: '"path\cl.exe"' : return code '0xc0000135' Archived Forums V > Visual C++ Express Edition Question 0 Sign in to vote I am http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6622869/nmake-fatal-error-u1077-return-code-0xc0000135 trying to compile a .c function that gets hooked to a CFD program. When the makefile generated by the CFD program invokes "NMAKE" to compile the function I get the following error: NMAKE : fatal error U1077: '"path\cl.exe"' : return code '0xc0000135' The source code of the function appears sound. It is a very simple function. My best guess is something is wrong in my environment https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/325b5459-c469-40d0-bf6d-e3356a2f14cd/nmake-fatal-error-u1077-pathclexe-return-code-0xc0000135?forum=Vsexpressvc setup or something is wrong with the Visual installation. Can anyone shed some light on what might be the cause of that fatal error? Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated. Tuesday, September 26, 2006 10:58 PM Answers 0 Sign in to vote It looks like the makefile does not have the path to where your compiler is installed. You might want to review the generated makefile and see what kind of environment variables or other parameters it expects to have set or customized so it can find the command-line compiler, the linker, and other programming-system utilities that may be needed. You can get general help about nmake from the MSDN Help in VC++ and on-line. For what the CFD program generates and how to setup an environment that is expected in the generated makefile, you'll need to consult with CFD experts, on-line sources and any documentation. List Log In VS12 NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cl' : return code '0x2' https://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/5513865 Jules A. (jules_a) on 2014-08-27 15:53 Hello, i would like a hand to understand what's wrong with what i'm doing to compile ruby with VS12. When i run .\win32\configure.bat from powershell in the source folder,i get the error NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cl' : return code '0x2' since NMAKE started, fatal error it confirms my path works (as cl and NMAKE are in the same folder) From Microsoft's documentation, 0x2 is a "missing file" error, but path of the potential missing file isn't specified, from there, i don't really know where to start searching as the missing file isn't specified. To save nmake fatal error some time, here's my PATH %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\SysinternalsSuite\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Web Platform installer\;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files (x86)\GNU\GnuPG\pub;C:\Program Files (x86)\Git\cmd;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\8.1\Windows Performance Toolkit\;C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\TypeScript\1.0\;C:\Program Files\Perl\bin;C:\Program Files\OpenSSL\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1A\Bin My LIB C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1A\Bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\lib; My INCLUDE C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\VC\include;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1A\Include Please don't redirect me to MinGW or tools using it as it won't help me understand why it didn't work with VS12 Thanks Report post Edit Move Delete topic Reply with quote Re: VS12 NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cl' : return code '0x2' Josh Karamuth (Guest) on 2014-08-27 20:17 Looks like cl.exe cannot be found.
