color laser printer with a SERVICE CALL This answer was rated: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have an OKI C5500 color laser printer with a SERVICE CALL 980: FATAL ERROR. I have replaced the fuser module which was wrapped http://my.okidata.com/oki-faq.nsf/faqcentral/F9BE1CE10EA6F3AA85257654006757C1?OpenDocument with paper and had a bad roller. However, I still have the error. I have checked and cleaned each of the toner rollers and they appear to be OK. All paper paths appear to be clear. Is this printer toast or is there a software glitch somewhere that will fix this and get it going again? Lorin XXXXXX, XXX-XXX-XXXX,[emailprotected] Share this conversation Expert: Michael Hannigan replied3 years ago. Hello. My name isXXXXX will be your Primary Care Technician and I http://www.justanswer.com/office-equipment/81dss-oki-c5500-color-laser-printer-service-call.html can assist you with your question.Lorin, I can tell you that what you are experiencing isn't the result of something you can correct in software. Your first conclusion is the one that I (and most engineers) would have drawn. It is usually the fuser assembly which causes this type of error. As long as you reaplced the entire assembly, that should have fixed it. But you still have to reset the error. The reset is a fuse with a thermistor. There are four wires going into the thermistor, two are for the thermistor itself and the other two connect to a fast blow fuse built inside the plastic that hold the thermistor in place. This fuse is a "fastblow" fuse which by design, blows the first time you install the new fuser. If the fuser is an Original Oki fuser, then this should have been in place and should have reset the error as it blew out. Since it didn't, you may only have to excahnge the fuser as devective and replace it. Because if this small step doesn't happen, then the 980 error will not go away. If the fuser is not Oki brand, that would cause the same issue. If that is the case, you will have to replace it with a genuine Oki Fuser. Other brands would not have this reset mechanism set for the printer to clear the error.Anything other than that would be an electrical problem needing
error" with the error code 980 Solution 1: Error 980 means that the error by media clinging to the fuser and the fuser is required to be replaced. Solution 2: Take out the Fuser and lay http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-fix-error-code-980-on-oki.html the two blue levers flat and remove them. Remove the two silver screws and separate the casing. Remove the two black screws from the connector at the bottom of the fuser closest to the edge. Unravel and loosen the wires so you can pull that connector out a few inches so you can get a couple of wires in there. Insert a wire into each of the two holes on the back of that fatal error connector. 2 and 3 have wires going in, 4 and 5 dont which is the fuse. After you get the wires in the 2 holes, check for continuity from the end of the wires and the terminals if you can. Make sure the wires are long enough to hang out the case. Use the thinnest wires you can find. Run the wires out of the case and put the case back together and put oki fatal error the fuser in. Twist the two wires together and power up the machine. As soon as you here the first motor, which is about 5 seconds, pull the wires apart, you just reset the fuser back to 100% and cleared the "980" Fatal Error. You can replace the fuser but this won't always clear the error, the above method may work but seems an awful lot of workContact OKI via the website, they will reply with instructions on how to download and install Oki storage device manager. Once this is installed you can use it to send a .pjl file to the printer which clears the error. March 28, 2012 at 4:59 PM Anonymous said... I repaired oki c5800 980 error like author said, I put two wires inside fuser unit, on the white two free pins.. then I power on the printer and waited for first motor sound, then I released the wires (timing is critical) November 13, 2012 at 6:16 AM Anonymous said...
