Help! Category: Outlook InMotionFans n/a Points Asked: 2014-07-31 5:45 pm EST Hits: 1,209 My Outlook 2010 suddenly started displaying following message in a pop-up box: "Your IMAP server wants to alert you: Fatal error: No such file or directory". It does this again and again (every second or so) filling up by screen with pop-up boxes and effectively making my Outlook useless. I've checked my IMAP account settings, and all are OK. I'd really appreciate help in resolving this! Thank you. You must login before you can ask a follow up question. You must login before you can submit an answer. In Outlook 2007, everything was fine, but since people have moved over to 2010 and 2013, they are being bombarded with the error message Your IMAP server wants to alert you to the following: Fatal error: Did NOT to connect to an internal server.: Cannot assign requested address There are a large number of accounts now experiencing this when set-up with IMAP. The email accounts are are http://superuser.com/questions/595440/imap-email-error on different domains (different TLDs also) and are Setup on a range of machines and software systems. The error does not apear on 2007, but does outlook 2010 and 2013. The PCs with these accounts setup are across different Networks and ISPs some related, some totally unrelated. The only common denominator is Outlook and a GoDaddy server. These accounts can SEND and RECEIVE emails fine - no problems here - but every 10-30 minutes an annoying popup windows error message from Outlook produced this message. While I agree with GoDaddy that these are technically "Working" unfortunately its not workable. We set-up another IMAP accounts on a different email server (US based this time) and the same error was produced. I am now trying to figure out weather this is a problem linked to Outlook, or their mail servers? Does anybody recognise this error or is able to point me in the right direction? What I have tried so far includes Re-setting up mail accounts and mail profiles Trying Outlook 2007 (no problems) and 2010,2013 (problems) Removing Firewalls and Anti-Virus Installing on a fresh windows 7 and office 2010 PC Installing on a fresh windows 7 and office 2013 PC Increasing time-out, Trying different ports that 143 and 25 Trying different server addresses (imap.domain.com and imap.secureserver.net and imap.europe.secureserver.net - all of which are valid but makes no difference) Trying PCs on other ISPs and Network Locations etc... and now I am stuck. email m

on Centos 5.5 64B using the Perfect Server Guide Roundcube .3xx Plugins for Roundcube using NeeChee guide Everything seems to be working fine... Various POP and IMAP clients are working - Thunderbird, iPhone, Roundcube. BUT, Outlook 2007 crashes everytime I open it with a new profile created with IMAP. POP3 works fine. The Outlook test settings works fine as well when the account is first created with the new profile. But when I open Outlook, it begins to fetch folders and receives the Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close... Etc.. In the maillog, I can see the entry for the IMAP login and then nothing. Until I close the Outlook error box. THen the maillog shows the IMAP logout... The crashing of Outlook 2007/2010 (does not happen with 2003) was resolved by removing the blank line at the top of the subscription file in Maildir for each user. Apparently, Outlook could not handle this. The problem now is how to correct it for all new email users. I assume there is a place somewhere that the code to create the subscription file can be edited. Anybody know where it might be?
