I go about doing that? Borge @joeborge0914 5 months ago Go to this path home/username/public_html/wp-includes/default-constants.php modify the codes in it into // set memory limits if ( !defined(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT') ) { if ( is_multisite() ) { define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', ‘256M'); } else { define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', ‘256M'); } } if ( ! defined( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT' ) ) { define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', ‘512M' ); WordPress created default from 40 40 60 M. Scans will not complete. I posted in this support group as well. Plugin Author WFMattR @wfmattr 6 months ago Hi webby1973, This is probably because some of the scan data is larger than in previous versions, so combined with other plugins' memory usage, the site is reaching the limit. You may be able to increase "How much memory should Wordfence request when scanning" on the https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-allowed-memory-size-exhausted-35/ Wordfence options page, if it is currently set to 128 MB. (Try 256, if it's not already set that high.) If this does not help, you may need to ask the host to increase the "memory_limit" in the php.ini file for you. If you have any plugins you're no longer using, sometimes disabling/removing them will also help decrease memory usage during scans, but you might hit the limit again soon. We will be working on decreasing memory usage where possible as well. -Matt R webby1973 @webby1973 6 months ago Hello Matt, I have set in WF memory to 128MB (which is what my host allows) and 30 for the execution time. Are you using the most recent version of the plugin? Does the error message contain more information, and what page(s) do you see the it on? stephan.lange @stephanlange 10 months, 3 weeks ago Hi Joachim, thank you for getting back to me. Yes I am using the most up to date version 0.8 When I set up the access allowed memory size level I granted my test user access to one (Custom) Post type section of my site and customized his capabilities to allow editing of posts and pages. When I go as that user to that section that I should have access to and edit a page within it I get a message displayed underneath the permalink: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/hostmetr/public_html/centuria/wp-includes/class-wp-editor.php on line 1344 Other pages within the same (allowed) section I can see an empty wysiwyg box and on the right hand side I see this error underneath the publish box: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 96 bytes) in /home/hostmetr/public_html/centuria/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-option.php on line 655 Let me know if you have an idea what it could be. Thanks Stephan Plugin Author Joachim Jensen @intoxstudio 10 months, 2 weeks ago Thank you for these details. Are you only getting the error when Restrict User Access is activated? Your error message indicates that you are out of memory (and therefore the page stops rendering correctly). From the last line it seems to be related to "WordPress SEO". Try deactivating that plugin and see if it helps

Thanks a lot Jens Viewing 7 replies - 1 through 7 (of 7 total) Moderator James Huff @macmanx 8 months, 3 weeks ago If you're seeing this error either suddenly (no specific task was done to cause the error) or frequently, try deactivating all plugins to rule-out a plugin-specific issue and try switching themes to rule-out a theme-specific issue. Otherwise, here are three ways to increase PHP's memory allocation: 1. If you can edit or override the system php.ini file, increase the memory limit. For example, memory_limit = 128M 2. If you cannot edit or override the system php.ini file, add php_value memory_limit 128M to your .htaccess file. 3. If neither of these work, it's time to ask your hosting provider to temporarily increase PHP's memory allocation on your account. Keep in mind that most decent hosting providers allocate 32 MB to PHP under each account, and most decent hosting providers allow users to temporarily increase the memory allocation. If your hosting provider won't accommodate you, perhaps it's time to find a new hosting provider. (in the above examples, the limit is set to 128MB) jensner @jensner 8 months, 3 weeks ago Thanks, i tried to install a brandnew and clean installation of WP. In my opinion there isnt installed any plugin. I have no access to the php.ini and tried out your tip to edit the .htaccess but thie did not resolve the problem.
