My directory structure is set up as so: /Users/achan/Sites/ lrwxrwx--- 1 achan staff 23B Apr 27 16:21 epwbst@ -> /Users/achan/dev/epwbst` where epwbst/ is a symlink inside of ~/Sites. If I put test.php inside of the Sites/ directory, Apache serves up the file correctly; it spews out phpinfo() like it is supposed to. If I put the same file under the symlink, I http://serverfault.com/questions/393240/how-do-i-resolve-a-php-error-failed-opening-required-in-a-symlink-context get this error: [Mon May 28 14:47:13 2012] [error] [client ::1] PHP Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 [Mon May 28 14:47:13 2012] [error] [client ::1] PHP Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required '/Users/achan/Sites/epwbst/test.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php/pear') in Unknown on line 0 Just to be sure that Apache was working, I created a test html file under ~/Sites/epwbst/ and Apache served it up as expected. I am too careless… 1). I uninstalled WordFence. Afterwards, I found a file called wordfence-waf.php we I deleted. My MultiSite will not load. Here is the error message: Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required ‘/home/toniengl/public_html/wordfence-waf.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line fatal error 0 2). Something is causing my WP install to red line/maxed in memory, real and virtual, and high CPU. Would anything from WordFence cause that? It is the reason I deleted the plugin. But my install is still redlining. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/ Viewing 11 replies - 1 through 11 (of 11 total) Plugin Author wfasa @wfasa 6 months, 1 week ago Hello Toni, could failed opening required you check in the root of your server and look for two files, .htaccess and .user.ini. Toni @tools4toni 6 months, 1 week ago Ah! wished I had waited. I am in the process of restoring my MultiSite from a backup. Thank you for responding today. Cheers! Toni @tools4toni 6 months, 1 week ago Looks like I still do need this. Thanks again. Plugin Author wfasa @wfasa 6 months, 1 week ago Hello Toni, I'm setting this to resolved for now.
