I ended up buying a $20 USB K+ DCAN cable. I got it up and running installing the V5.02 suite under XP Mode on a Windows 7 64bit. Seems a little sluggish, but I assume it has something to do with the virtual PC. INPA and Tool32 works fine. NCSdummy starts up without any issues, but have not figured out what all the other parts are for yet. It is up and running now, but I wondering if I would have been better off paying $200-400 for a more professional tool. The installation was a pain. I am very comfortable with virtual machines, drivers, unix etc, but I would have a hard time telling someone else how to do it. I have used VAG-COM on VW in the past and from a user friendliness standpoint this INPA&company setup does not even register on a scale. With the VAG-COM tool I would figure things out on my own, with this setup I am 100% dependent on someone posting the instructions to what what I am trying to do. (or maybe I just haven't found the secret documentation yet). ( Just a warning to other people) I followed a set of instructions to register my battery using Tool32. It said "success", but to be honest I don't really know if it did anything. How do I check? I used INPA and found a place to read out error codes. Is there a table somewhere that tells me what they mean. Google did not help. Someone please point me to the super secret decoder ring.
