This error automatically turned off the central heating and hot water. Resetting the boiler fixed the problem temporary. After some research it looked like lots of people were getting the same problem and that the E168 Error code could mean a variety of things. The only appropriate solution I could find was to fault code replace the PCB and this would cost at least £100 in parts. So I asked my brother who happened to be an electrical engineer to have a quick look. After several hours he had drawn up the circuit diagram and reverse engineered what each part of the board was doing. It looked like a couple of capacitors were baxi duo tec being used to drop the voltage down. Apparently a cost saving measure instead of using a transformer. Over time (from spikes etc) these capacitors lose their accuracy and the output voltage goes well out of the working range of the chips on the PCB.Heating the board with a hair drier also seemed to affect the output voltage and might explain the intermittent nature of the problem. So the solution was to replace the damaged capacitor.1) I bought a new one off ebay for £1.81 - including delivery!2) Turned off the power to completely isolate the power to the boiler!3) Removed two screws on front panel and it hinges down4) Unscrew the main cover on the back5) Remember where all the wire connect6) Disconnect all the wires7) Remove PCB8) Unsolider the capacitor. The problem I had was with the large blue capacitor (bottom left)9) Replace with new identical spec capacitor10) Put it all back together again.[The pictures might help]The capacitor I bought to replace it was a highe
