Thx Bb I just did this over the weekend also, and I was not able to figure out how to do it with putty either, I ended up getting out an OLD laptop that has XP on it to use HyperTerminal. My reason for saying this was that while doing that, I was wondering what I might do later when I dont have that laptop anymore, I was thinking I might use Virtual XP mode under Win7 next time, I have not done this yet but its just a thought. What type of host is it? With xmodem, you have to start the transfer from both ends. On the server, you issue the command hyperterminal xmodem error at the command line as you did. From Absolute, though, you have to start the transfer as well (Transfer->Send->Xmodem or Transfer->Receive->Xmodem) Brian bpence (Admin) Admin Posts: 1319 Logged Brian Pence Celestial Software SSH , SFTP, and Telnet in a tabbed interface for Windows XP, Vista, Mobile, and others The administrator has disabled public write access. #2016 Re: XModem differs from Hyperterminal 10 Years, 5 Months ago Dear Brian: I am receiving a file from PC, my serial port is connected to an ARM training board. When I use Hyper Term, I type in the serial port the receiving commands, then I go to menu bar and select transfer file XModem. PC and my ARM board then exchange headers and begin the file transfer. When I use the Absolute telnet, I use the exact same procedure, but the serial terminal side breaks right away. I noticed that there is a garage character in front of the breaking message. My questions are: 1) The prefix sending string in Absolute telnet for XModem, is it standard? 2) If not, what should I change it to? I don't think start PC send file first is the solution, because the command l

Hi there, I'm trying to achieve file transfer between a PC and a 16F88 (PC needs to send file to PIC) but having no luck. I can get bi-directional communication between both devices when using Hyperterminal in normal mode (can get PIC to echo characters that are typed on the PC etc.), so I know that physical communication isn't an issue, but when it comes to using Hyperterminal's built in file transfer function it's all going horribly wrong! Hyperterminal gives you a massive list of protocols and I chose to use XModem because it seemed the simplest, I've written a bit of PICC codewith reference tothe protocol descriptions:http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/randz/protocol/hyperterminal_xmodem_file_transfer.aspand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMODEM, but once file transfer has started I repeatedly get the error message "receiver sent unrequested response" (or similar, it flashes up so quickly) and then Hyperterminal cancels the file transfer because of too many errors. I'm assuming this means my timing is a bit wrong and the PIC is sending out acknowledge signals at the wrong point, but I can't seem to get it right... void main(void) { char readstring[]; int32 i; int32 bytecount = 0; char out[2]; char c, tc; char data[]; char address_upper; char address_lower; long address_full; int EOT; EOT = 1; setup_adc_ports(NO_ANALOGS);// Turn off analog
