It sounds like you're having a disk-write error, either bad sectors or dataflow congestion somewhere. If you are saving the torrent data to a networked drive, or an external drive, my first guess would be that you are overloading the connection. Here's some suggestions. Don't try them all, or in any particular order; I'll just put some ideas here for you to consider. make sure prob is also with other trackers' torrents, in case something has messed up btjunkie's files. (Really improbable) Save the next torrent to a local drive, or a different one if possible. If you don't get the option where to save it, go to uTorrent's Preferences - Directories and give it a new path and/or check "Always show dialogue on manual add" Check your power-saving settings if you think a disk shutting off might be the culprit (depends on timing of the errors) Read up on, and run scandisk, and more importantly chkdsk /f (you might have a dying or defective drive) In uTorrent Preferences - Advanced - Disk Cache , change some settings according to your intuition. Maybe one at a time would be best! If it is a USB drive you're having probs with, move it to another hub on your computer. ports on an internal shared hub are usually adja

I checked Windows eventlog and there's no errors or anything, just application hang for utorrent. I have scanned with hard disk sentinel and it says all drives are fine (I have 3 wd drive, one green 2tb, 1 blue 1tb and 1 black 1tb). Should I be worried one of my drives is faulty and is there some way of fixing this error? And HD Sentinel reports that current and average disk activity is at 100% which doesn't make any sense. I'm on windows 7. Thanks Reply With Quote Top To remove ads become VIP. Inquire about advertising here. RhythmScript Forum Hero Posts: 1,879 Helpfulness: 1 HDD suspend / IO Device Error « on: March 01, 2011, 02:45:57 PM » So I've been having problems with both uTorrent and my Windows backup, giving me "IO Device Errors" when an operation is left running overnight. I thought it was bad sectors at first but my sector checks seem to be fine... until the computer is left running overnight during a sector check, and then it just freezes and fails. But I've never had problems copying/moving files so I doubt it's a bad sector which is causing problems.Another example: I'll let uTorrent run. Works fine. I'll wake up in the morning or come home from work and uTorrent will show an "IO Device Error" which prevented the torrent from completing. So I'll delete and readd the torrent, it will resume where it left off and there's no problems. So clearly I'm not magically hitting and skipping a bad sector every time this happens, right? Not to mention other copies, like copying from my USB drive to my NAS drive without using my main HDD as an intermediary, don't get interrupted during this suspension, so I believe it's not the OS's fault, but the HDDs.I've checked my "power management options" in Windows and (surprise, surprise) the drive is set to sleep "never" so this shouldn't be happening. Obviously, Windows is a crapfactory and the drive *is* going to sleep anyway. I need to FORCE it not to.So, any ideas? FWIW I never had this problem until my machine's first HDD crashed last year... I switched it out for a WD drive (the original was a Seagate) and I don't know if that has anything to do with it. But I have a hard time believing this brand new drive is dying and/or filled with bad sectors and this is all a coincidence, especially since the machine can run for 10 hours on a torrent download during use but fails after like 30 minutes of idle activity.
