The single best response to this situation would be to restore your last known good data backup and then re-enter the newer entries. You can try to repair this file by running the Peachtree database utility labeled DATA VERIFICATION located inside Peachtree. Open your Company, and click on FILE and DATA VERIFICATION. Please note that there is only a slim chance that this utility will effect the desired repair. If you do not have a backup or at least a recent good data backup, then you can submit your database for professional repair to one of several companies that perform Peachtree database repair. One such company is labeled Data Soft and their website is www.mypeachtreedata.com. If you do submit your database for repair, then send the backup made prior to any attempts to fix the problem, as you can not typically fix a fix or repair a repair. Cancel rexelias 22 Aug 2009 6:32 PM What if we export the new transactions from the current and import them into the known good data backup file after restoration? Cancel sguru 23 Aug 2009 7:42 AM This is a very viable idea. Remember, that one may have entered a transaction or more with a date or dates prior to that of the last backup. Do you have a backup? Could you replace the old one? Do NOT just copy the customer.dat file from a backup. This could corrupt your entire PT http://forums.peachtreeusers.com/showthread.php?t=269 system. First, make a different backup Change to Accounting Period #1 Run an integrity check to reindex the customer file (Run only that check - no others) If that does not fix the problem, you will need to restore a backup from before the error occured; just be sure to restore the entire backup not just part of it. __________________ Diane Koers Indianapolis, Indiana Co-Author Peachtree for Dummies www.thepeachtreelady.com Diane Koers View Public Profile Find all posts by Diane Koers #4 09-06-2001, 06:35 AM Robert Walraven Registered User Join Date: Jun 2001 Location: Davis, CA Posts: 1,121 Re: I/O Error In File customer.dat [QUOTE]Originally posted by christian01 [B]I am receiving a message when I try opening a company that says "I/O Error In File C:\Peachw\bacbroio\customer.dat" Btrieve error 2, I/O error, indicates that your file is trashed and there is no way to repair it. The only fix is to restore the last good backup and reenter everything from that point. Spysweeper could have remove a sypware, which then corrupted the user profile or a file in Peachtree itself. If only one user is having problem, create an a new user profile. If everyone is having the same problem, reinstall Peachtree.
