My friend's PC went kaput and i decided to put Linux back on instead of Windows. Formatted the drive, burnt a fresh SimplyMEPIS (latest version off their website) disk and a fresh Ubuntu (9.04) disk to see which they preferred (both onto DVD-RW, and then onto CD-R). I loaded up Ubuntu, went to run it off the CD and after i selected load Ubuntu without changing my computer it started its loading screen. Then it started saying Buffer I/O Error on Device Sr0, Logical Block .... and never went any farther. So i thought it was just a bad disk so i popped in the MEPIS disk and it started coming up with the exact same errors. I know theres nothing wrong with the HDD or the CD/DVD Drive as i can install LinuxMint (which i had some issues with hardware and decided i preferred Ubuntu) no problems and boot it up. Any ideas what may be causing this "Buffer I/O Error on Device Sr0"? My friend really needs his PC back and I don't have a copy of Windows handy (the last disk got lost ): Last edited by dakiato; 06-12-2009 at 07:38 PM. Reply With Quote 06-12-2009,09:36 PM #2
