Booting into single user mode and trying to use fcsk didn't work. I read here to try "sudo chown root:admin /", but that didn't do anything and instead just said "chown: read only" or something similar.Any ideas? I really have no idea why it broke down, I imac i/o error don't remember installing any updates or changing any kexts.Vexir Back to top #2 Gringo Vermelho Posted 24 September 2011 - 10:37 PM Gringo Vermelho The Jan Bird fix Supervisors 6,224 posts Gender:Male Location:Brazil Boot from your install media and use Disk Utility to do a disk repair. If that doesn't help try this: http://www.cgsecurit...g/wiki/TestDisk Back to top #3 Vexir Posted 25 September 2011 - 01:46 AM Vexir InsanelyMac Protégé Members 28 posts I must be really stupid or I'm missing something. When I stick my retail SL disc in there, Chameleon doesn't detect it or see it at all. What's the problem here? You have three options: 1) Make your own Chameleon boot CD and use the 'swap trick' to boot the retail DVD. Visit the VoodooProjects forum, look for a post by me and follow the link in my signature. You need to register an account to download the attached files. 2) Use Apple Disk Utility to restore your retail DVD to a partition on your hard drive. This will be bootable with your present Chameleon installation.

a day when I was doing something, usually opening or switching to a new app, the Hackintosh would freeze up and I would have to press the power button to restart. One of these resulted in a kernel panic, but all http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/268860-repeated-disk-io-error-after-waiting-for-dsmos/ of the others just completely locked up the system to the point where the clock stopped working. For the most part I was just able to reboot in the past to fix this issue and last another day. But as of last night I can't boot the Hackintosh. When I try to boot it up I get through the boot process, then I get a white screen and think it is going to the login screen, but instead I get a black screen https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/hackintosh-has-been-freezing-up-now-i-cant-boot-i-get-disk0s1-i-o-errors.86956/ with this message scrolling down my screen. disk0s1: I/O error. disk0s1: I/O error. disk0s1: I/O error. disk0s1: I/O error. ** It continues down until the monitor is almost full and then. com.apple launched 1 com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication 3376 Exit timeout lapsed (20 seconds). When it does this there isn't much I can do. Since I have a solid state drive the system usually boots up in around ten seconds so after waiting a minute or so I just shut down the system. At first I thought the solid state drive was failing so I updated the firmware on my SSD and tried putting it into another system to see if I could access the files. I was able to both update the firmware, and view the files on another system. I have also tried using different SATA ports (even from another controller), different SATA cables, and even different SATA power cables so I don't think that this is the issue. If this is any help the last time the system locked up was when I was moving one tab on Chromium over to my other monitor. It locked up and I rebooted the system. Is it possible that org.chromium.Chromoting is the Chromium browser and that when I pressed t

Verbose mode shows a load i/o error mac of I/O errors. Disk Verify/Repair run via recovery partition completes successfully, as does fsck terminal command in single user startup mode (it modified the files on first run but not second). I reset the NVRAM too. However none of these have helped, same I/O errors afterwards. Thinking it might be due to OS files being corrupted I created a USB drive with installable version of OSX (actually 10.9 Mavericks), but it crashes during install. I wanted to try Apple Hardware Tools diagnostics but the startup shortcuts D or opt+D don't work - I read it's been removed so presumably I'll need to find a way to reinstall it first. I've tried the usual fixes such as safe mode (won't boot), removing all peripherals, even the RAM sticks. I can't hear the drive making any grinding sounds. Is there anything else I can try to fix this? Is it likely the HD has died even though Disk Repair is returning success? hard-drive imac boot startup install share|improve this question asked Oct 8 '13 at 14:46 Ben Wise 335324 ad
A Hackintosh Save You? [UPDATED] How to dual-boot Windows and OS X on separate disks Tabs HOME INSTALLATION GUIDES HARDWARE RECOMMENDATIONS ADDITIONAL RESOURCES WHAT IS HACKINTOSHING? Ads Below Tabs February 12, 2012 How to fix the boot0 error for your Hackintosh Getting Mac OS X to boot from your Hackintosh's hard disk without any help can be a difficult process. Most of the time, using Multibeast to install UserDSDT or Easybeastwill do the trick. However, you may get a boot0 error, instead of the normal Hackintosh bootscreen, after running Multibeast on your Hackintosh. This error might be caused by the sector format of your Hackintosh's hard drive. If so, there's a fix available, but it isn't easy. UPDATE (December 6, 2015): This issue no longer occurs when your Hackintosh uses Clover Bootloader (now the default in the Unibeast method of installing OS X). Overview Sometimes, a boot0 error just means that your Hackintosh's bootloader wasn't installed properly. In which case, boot into your Hackintosh with iBoot or Unibeast, and re-run UserDSDT/Easybeast with Multibeast again. However, a boot0 error might also happen when your Hackintosh's hard drive reads and writes files in 4096 byte sectors. Most hard drives read and write files in 512 byte sectors, and Chimera bootloader (the bootloader installed by UserDSDT and Easybeast) can't be installed normally on a hard disk with 4096 byte sectors. To fix this problem, you have to unmount (turn off) the hard disk that Mac OS X is installed on, and then manually reinstall Chimera on that unmounted disk. NOTE: Though this guide fixes the boot0 error for Chimera bootloader, it will also work for Chameleon bootloader, which is essentially the same thing. What you need You can't fix this problem straight from your normal installation of Mac OS X, because it requires you to unmount your main hard disk, and it's impossible for OS X to unmountitself.Instead, here's what you'll need: Anything with the Mac OS X Installer:To unmount the hard disk, you need to boot into something that will give you access to a different copy of Mac OS X, such as the Mac OS X Installer. This could be aUnibeast USB drive, Kakewalk USB drive, myHack USB drive, Snow Leopard installation DVD, xMove partition, or evena cloned copy of your hard disk. Standalone installer for Chimera bootloader:In this guide, you'll be writing "b
