Now, I when I power the T61 I get "Error 0192 - Embedded Security hardware tamper detected". I can get into bios with Thinkvantage but there is no reset under security. I have tried the esc key before/until the error appears to no avail. Is the only option to replace the motherboard? How much will it cost to get the motherboard?Embedded_Security_Subsystem Top Profile Reply with quote crazyfrog Post subject: Re: Error 0192 - Embedded Security hardware tamper detectedPostPosted: Sat Mar 21, 2009 8:41 am Offline Junior Member Joined: Sat Jul 08, 2006 4:02 am Posts: 324 Location: UK I don't think you need to replace the mobo (BTW, it does cost a lot of bucks). Have you tried to swap the ultrabay slim dvdrw back? There is also an option in BIOS to disable/enable Embedded Security chip. You may want to try that and see what happen next. _________________Core 2 Duo T7600, 3GB DDR2-667 RAM, Main 7K320 320GB 7200RPM + Ultrabay 320GB 5400RPM, ATI FireGL V5250, 15" IPS UXGA, DVDRW, Bluetooth, Atheros ABGN, NMB Keyboard, Fingerprint, Win7 Pro X86 + Vista 64-bit SP2, Advanced Dock. The error indicates that information that ties the BIOS data to the security data has been modified. I won't go into more detail, because it leads to hacking discussions. I will say that I have seen bad memory chips or badly seated memory cause all sorts of problems, so I always try that first. Top Profile Reply with quote wall0p Post subject: Re: Error 01

TCPA chip is dead or was changed from the board._________________Victor Voinea ALLservice HQ, Romania. Thanks Back to top victorS.F. BossJoined: 07 Mar 2004Posts: 2446Location: Staff Posted: Thu Mar 19, 2009 8:11 pm Post subject: It needs the original AT97SC3203. Or the original BIOS code which contains the TCPA signature. Or a BIOS version with an universal signature, a http://www.allservice.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3192&sid=697a1c43524e81c56065dd71d72b4fde non TCPA BIOS - as some smart people (not us of course) use to say or may be aware so far._________________Victor Voinea ALLservice HQ, Romania. Or to patch the BIOS to ignore that. I speak here for the case when AT97 IC was replaced._________________Victor Voinea ALLservice HQ, Romania. Back to top Display
Lenovo T61 dying young? 0192 error Tags: Laptops Hardware Lenovo Last response: January 17, 2010 4:21 AM in Laptop Tech Support Share eqmassa1 January 14, 2010 11:20:51 PM About 6 times in the past 2 http://www.tomsguide.com/forum/56274-35-lenovo-dying-young-0192-error months, and twice in the past 10 days, I have turned on my Lenovo T61 laptop (from either standby or power-off, has happened in both) to see a black screen with this message: “Error 0192: System https://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/95472-0192-System-Security-Embedded-Security-Hardware-tamper-detected Security, Embedded Security hardware tamper detected.” I have not added any hardware to this laptop or otherwise tampered with it – except for a new battery. I’ve scoured the internet for help, but this question has ibm error been asked and left unanswered on most forums (unless the person added new hardware and caused the error themselves). Others advise that you should get a motherboard replacement immediately: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=74530&s.... My concern is that this has only happened a few times… could it be a fluke? Is there any way I can tell? I don’t want to part with my laptop for several weeks, since I can't really work without it, ibm error 0192 but I definitely don’t want to end up with a blown mobo either. It’s under warranty until 10/2010. Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks! Otherwise, you have plenty of time to run on the warranty and if it fails they'll probably just swap the machine for a reconditioned one (possibly a newer model) so I'd wait and see. Meanwhile, take steps to back up your work. m 0 l eqmassa1 January 16, 2010 9:38:12 PM “Are any of the access panels (such as for accessing memory modules) loose?” I’ve never taken a laptop apart (lot of experience with desktops though). Which panels are you referring to, and how can I get to them? Thanks so much for the advice! m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Most laptops have removable panels for accessing
