Then I get the Power on Password icon, which I have no idea what the password is, (or if that is only the power on password). I cannot get into the bios either, if I hold down the F1 it displays "entering bios setup, but never gets to it, it goes back to the error codes and power on password screen. Is there anyway to boot from a cd or thumb drive? I don't have an internal 3.5 floppy drive. I do have an external 3.5 floppy drive! any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Someone has said replace the mother board, I only paid $300.00 for the whole system, wouldn't a mother board cost more than that? Sounds to me like you have more than one issue there... Try pressing F12 on boot to see if the machine will allow you to boot from CD, which it probably won't since I suspect that your BIOS is locked with the password, but try it anyway. This is the link for the manual, and you can look up your error codes there... Good luck and let us know. http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ...

Jan ibm error code 25, 2006 #2 Vigilante TechSpot Paladin Posts: 1,666 There is not a ton of info on IBM BIOS recoveries. IBM did the bad thing of making their BIOS VERY SECURE! I had an older IBM then the ones you guys have, and ran into an issue one time. And from IBM's mouth they said if the master password and even the HDD password are forgotton, you need a new BIOS!! Of course, maybe there are ways to do it, refere to the DELL BIOS recovery thread on this same issue. But IBM is more secure and locks it right in with narry a way to remove. Just keep searching Google, an answer, good or bad, is bound to show up. But as far as I know, and this was a while back, IBM said the BIOS itself would have to be replaced. good luck fellas Jan 25, 2006 #3 Nodsu TS Rookie Posts: 5,837 +6 No, you cannot get around the IBM TP BIOS password. There are some people who say they have devices that can crack the security chip, but I would rather trust IBM and have the motherboard replaced. Of course, you lose the contents of your hard drive if you happened to encrypt that and forgot the password.
