Lotus Notes Encountered An Error
"An Error Was Encountered While Opening A Window" errors Published 24/11/2008 By Aleksander Nordgarden-Rødner Lotus Notes has a plethora of more or less (usually the latter) legible and understandable error messages. One of them I encountered the other day. The situation is as follows: a client of mine told me Notes had crashed, and she was now unable to restart Notes due to a rather cryptic error message: "An Error Was Encountered While Opening A Window". Now if we only knew why. The problem, it turns out, is that a process called NTASKLDR is still running. Knowing this, we also know how to resolve the problem. The solution is to kill the process called NTASKLDR. Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, open the processes tab, find the process and end it. But then you just close one of the program windows, and everythings OK. 25/11/2008 Reply Cax Takk for den, Kai. RANKIN (MIS) (OP) 7 Dec 04 22:01 Hi, and thanks for stopping by!I and a few of my users are experiencing a problem where Lotus appears to crash if closed abruptly. When you try and re-open Lotus Notes (6.5) it greets you with the message "An error was encountered while opening a window" and the program will not start. The only way to start Notes again that I have found is to reboot the machine, very annoying as you can imagine! If anybody has experienced this problem, or has a solution I'd love to hear about it!cheers,Rankin RE: Error encountered while opening a window..? pmonett (Programmer) 8 Dec 04 08:50 This sort of thing normally happens when Notes crashes and you try to reopen it.You do need to reboot, or use the ZapNotes tool to deal with the remaining objects that are still in memory.Pascal.
