Lotus Notes Error 0x115 Rtvscan
and may be holding our memory, exiting..." Technote (troubleshooting) Problem Your Notes client or Domino server crashes with the following error: "0x115 - RTVSCAN is operational and may be holding our memory, exiting. Please restart RTVSCAN or reboot the system". Cause When Domino, Notes, or any Notes API exits, the program tells the operating system (OS) to destroy the shared memory. The problem arises when the OS does not destroy it as long as a single process is attached to Notes/Domino shared memory. Many times, we detect that RTVSCAN is running and the Notes/Domino memory is still around because RTVSCAN is holding it. So, we print out this "specific" message on the server or client. If Notes/Domino is already running and RTVSCAN attaches to it, then there is no issue. Tthe problem arises if RTVSCAN is holding Notes memory at the time of starting or stopping Notes/Domino. Resolving the problem This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# LWLW7B58YX. This issue was determined to caused by third-party application (anti-virus software). To temporarily work around the issue, you can reboot the server or client that is displaying the error. After doing some research I saw where in 8.5.1 this error was http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21443971 related to Symantec Endpoint Protection and was fixed with the 8.5 FP1. (The message is below) I figured running this update on 8.5.2 MIGHT fix the issue, however during the install I received a version mismatch error and the install ended. Has anyone else seen this with 8.5.2 and if so what is the fix for it? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
