COM com; visual basic; type mismatch; notes session Technote (FAQ) Question A Visual Basic agent, using Component Object Model (COM) interface, to create a NotesSession object fails with the following error: "Run-time error '13': Type mismatch" This error occurs when the CreateObject method is called. http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/46dom.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/1d5f21bda71996bc85256d7c0052c1c1 For example, the code below would result in the error when the second line is executed: Dim session As NotesSession Set session = CreateObject("Notes.NotesSession") Answer This error occurs if the product references in the Visual Basic project has Lotus Notes Automation Classes enabled. http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21216203 The error occurs because the Lotus Notes Automation Classes are used for OLE automation, not COM. The CreateObject method does not return a compatible type for a NotesSession object when using OLE automation. To avoid the issue, under the project references in Visual Basic (Tools -> References), uncheck Lotus Notes Automation Classes and make sure that Lotus Domino Objects is checked. No matter how I try to get the Subject field (Evaluate, lotus notes error getFirstItem, getItemValue, etc), I always end up with an error. Usually it is a type mismatch or object variable not set. Solved Lotus Script errors type Mismatch Posted on 2014-07-14 Lotus IBM 1 Verified Solution 2 Comments 730 Views Last Modified: 2014-07-14 Lotus scripting is getting over my head. I have an issue I'm working on within an agent. I have an autogenerated email that builds the body of the email and then sends it. within the message I want to send a value from the form that is getting selected for the email. I have this AppendText : Call rtitem.AppendText( "Incident Source: " + src + Chr(13) + Chr(13) + "This is a Daily Notification Process indicating you have an open IR older than 5 days that Requires your attention. " + Chr(13) + "Please Open, Review and Update the IR." + Chr(13) + Chr(13) + "A Final Root Cause and Resolution are Required. " + Chr(13) + Chr(13) + "Thank You !" + Chr(13) + Chr(13) + "Open IR Document Link -> " ) Call rtitem.AppendDocLink( curdoc, doc.Subject( 0 ) ) this is just a message body of the email. I'm trying to add the first part, "Incident Source: " + src + Chr(13) + Chr(13) + the 2 chr gives me 2 line feeds. The problem is when trying to add field value src I get the mismatch I have it defined above as Dim src As NotesItem and then Set src = curdoc.GetFirstItem( "Incident" ) plus I'm trying to add the src value to the error at the end if there is one in this. MsgBox "Error in Send: " + src & Error$ ???? 0 Question by:pratigan Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 46 Active 1 day ago Best Solution bySjef Bosman Hi Paul, A NotesItem is not a valid operand for the plus-operator that you use to concatenate strings. The ampersand-operator is more lenient when it comes to concatenation, but in this case it woul
