Answer Beginning in Notes release 5.0.3 Client (and above), there is an option available called "Restore Bookmark Defaults". However, this option restores only the default icons on the Bookmark bar (Mail, Calendar, Address Book, To Do, Replicator, etc.), not the default folders (Favorites, Databases, More Bookmarks, etc.). An enhancement request, that this restore option be expanded to include the ability to restore the Bookmark folders in addition to the Bookmark icons, has been submitted to Lotus software Quality Engineering. Workarounds: OPTION #1: Restore a backup of the Bookmark.nsf, and then restart Notes Client. OPTION #2: Obtain a copy of Bookmark.nsf from another Notes Client. This option will require you to customize all other bookmarks/workspace icons. OPTION #3: Customize your SmartIcon set in R5 (or Toolbar set in 6.x). To specifically re-add only the Workspace bookmark back to your bookmark bar, you could also customize your SmartIcon/Toolbar set to include the Window Workspace icon (In 5.x via File > Preferences > SmartIcon Settings, or in 6.x via File > Preferences > Toolbar Preferences). Then click this icon on the SmartIcon bar/ Toolbar to get back to the Workspace, and create a bookmark of the Workspace by dragging the Workspace task button in the task bar (below the Notes menus at the top of the screen) to the desired place on the
Lotus Notes client Install; Notes id; client configuration; error message Technote (troubleshooting) Problem When running setup on a new installation of Lotus Notes, you receive the following error message after entering the users Notes password: Resolving the problem Checking the user's Person document, you find that no policies are applied to the user. All fields in the person document appear to be filled in correctly You then test access via Web mail or iNotes and discover that you are able to log into the users account without any error messages. This points to a possible issue with the http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21100583 users Notes ID. Cause/Solution #1 To test this theory rerun Notes Client setup and do not choose to connect to a Domino server as follows: 1. Edit the Notes.ini file and remove all but the first 5 lines. The following shows an example of what the Notes.ini file will look like on a Windows 7 workstation: [Notes] KitType=1 Directory=c:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data InstallType=2 InstallMode=1 NotesProgram=c:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Lotus\Notes\ 2. Rename or http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21509453 delete Names.nsf, Bookmark.nsf and Desktop8.ndk 3. Click on the Notes Icon to rerun setup, enter the users name but do NOT select the option: " I want to connect to a Domino Server" 4. Answer "yes" to the prompt to replace the user.id 5. Complete the setup process 6. At this point, you will need to edit the location document and add the Mail Server and Mail file location for the user 7. After doing so, you receive an error that "one or more Notes Certificates has expired" when you attempt to access the users mail file. 8. Recertify the users Notes ID and the user will now be able to view the inbox and use Lotus Notes Cause/Solution #2 Another scenario encountered by a customer was supplying the Domino server's host name in the "Domino server" field at the first window of Notes client set up. Clearing the INI and re-running setup correctly resolved the issue.
