Lotus Notes Disable Soft Delete
deleted : Archive Feedback Type: Comment Product Area: Notes Client Technical Area: Error Message Platform: Windows Release: 8.5.3 Reproducible: Unknown Just in case anyone else hits these forums for those obscure problems you run into so infrequently that they don't seem to be documented... Had a user trying to archive by clicking on the "Archive Now" option and instead of successfully completing it would throw the little pop up box titled "Archive" that says Document has been deleted. By the time I saw this, there were a number of things done, views rebuilt (Control-Shift-F9), cache cleared, even deleted the archive profile, all the basic trouble shooting. The view issue seemed like a no brainer because I've seen the same basic error when people archive selected, but rebuilding all the views didn't help. Turns out it was related to the Soft Deletions field. The $Softdeletes - simple fix was to open the DB, toggle off soft deletes and then toggle it back on. The only risk is losing your trash (well, it's not a risk, you LOSE your trash, but since you trashed the stuff, one would expect you didn't want it anyway....) After clearing that out the archive worked fine. The problem existed on 8.5.1 and was still there after we updated the client to 8.5.3. of the NotesDocument Class folder references property; ERR_NOTE_DELETED Technote (FAQ) Question You can use the FolderReferences property of the NotesDocument class to return a list of folders in which a document can be found. A document is added to a folder, and this folder is subsequently removed from the database. When you attempt to access the FolderReferences property for the document, the following error occurs in http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd85forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedWeb/d6e4eff13a36e6a0852579f70054f5e3 Notes 6.x and above: "Document has been deleted." In Notes 5.x, the above error is followed twice by the following error after you press the ENTER key: "B-tree structure is invalid" Also in Notes 5.x, a crash can occur when attempting to open the document in the User Interface. The following Red Box http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21203350 error occurs: "Sorry, an uncorrectable error has occurred. Object handle is invalid Press ENTER to abort the application." What follows is an example of an agent that uses the FolderReferences property. Sub Initialize Dim s As New NotesSession Dim db As NotesDatabase Dim doc As NotesDocument Dim references As Variant Set doc=s.documentcontext references = doc.FolderReferences Forall ref In references Msgbox ref End Forall End Sub Answer This issue has been reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# PCOY63JJUN, and there are no plans to address the issue. When using LotusScript to remove folders, you can avoid this issue if you remove the documents from the folder prior to deleting it. To do so, use the RemoveAllFromFolder method in the NotesViewEntryCollection class. For example, use code such as follows: Set db = s.currentdatabase Set bfolder=db.getview("foldername") Set entrycol= bfolder.allentries Call entrycol.removeallfromfolder(bfolder.name) Call bfolder.remove To avoid the issue for documents already in this state, you can make use of the LotusSc

deleted and the document/email cannot be deleted. This occurs when soft deletions are enabled and orphened entries in the view are still present; linking to documents/email when are no longer in the database. - The emails have actually already been deleted, but the entry in the view is still present. The orphaned entries are also unable to be moved. To fix this do one of the following, starting with the first: Compact the database: From within the database go to File > Database > Properties > "i" tab. Click on '% used' , wait a moment and then click on compact. Disable and then re-enable soft deletions: From within the database go to File > Database > Properties > Advanced / right-most tab. Uncheck 'Allow soft deletions' , exit the database, re-open and then re-tick it. Force a refresh of orphaned entries: Get a user with manager access to the database to press Shift+Del when highlighting one of the documents/emails that cannot be deleted. Force a refresh of the views: Get a user with manager access to the database to press Ctrl+Shift+F9 when in the database. You can also try Shift+F9 In some versions this will work See Also IBM Notes Domino Forum: User cannot delete message in inbox Insted of Control+ Shift + F9 Please try Shift + F9 . It works .
