I've removed & reinstalled the Notes (multi-user) client several times and now I'm getting a box (see Subject above) when trying to configure a new user. Installation aborts all the way out to Windows. I have tried to remove & reinstall but can't get past this error and thus can't add more users to this box. HELP ! 6.5 File does not exist: 'Pernames.ntf'. File does not exist: 'Bookmark.ntf'; notes.ini; reinstall client Technote (FAQ) Question You have reinstalled a Lotus Notes 6.5.x client. After doing so, however, the client will not launch. The following errors appear when you attempt to launch the client: "File does not http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/7c11c783c6f0bfee85256d2d007da60e exist: 'Pernames.ntf'" "File does not exist: 'Bookmark.ntf'" Answer This issue can occur if the notes.ini is missing from the Program directory of the newly installed Notes client. To work around the issue, search for a copy of the notes.ini on the hard drive. Typically http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21160060 you can locate one in the \WinNT directory. Copy that file to the current Notes Program directory (e.g., \Program files\Lotus\Notes). Supporting Information: Prior to reinstalling the Notes 6.5.x client, you should make a backup of the existing notes.ini files, and if the existing notes.ini is located in the \WinNT directory, you should delete that copy before attempting a reinstallation. If you do not delete the old notes.ini first, Notes will look in the wrong place for its files. This is extremely easy and may then allow you to open your corrupt names.nsf and recover personal contacts etc. In the \Lotus\Data directory, rename names.nsf to oldnames.nsf In the \Lotus directory, make a copy of notes.ini and call it oldnotes.ini The reason for doing this is a) possible recovery of oldnames.nsf contents b) we are going to hack the notes.ini. Once these files are copied, edit \lotus\notes.ini Delete all entries apart from the following: > [Notes] > KitType=1 > Directory=D:\Program Files\lotus\notes\data > InstallType=2 Do not modify the Directory= line to be like mine as you may have Notes installed to different directories. Save your changes. Now start Lotus Notes. Notes will now think it is a fresh install and want to re-populate the Notes.ini and create you a new NAMES.NSF. To automatically create the names.nsf, the file pernames.ntf must exist within to \lotus\data directory. If not, t
