Posted by Jade Purdie on 7.Feb.07 at 11:25 AM using Lotus NotesCategory: Domino ServerRelease: 6.5.4 FP1Platform: Windows 2000 My domino server throws up the following error many times a day: Error full text indexing mail\jknights.nsf: Access to data denied. However, the odd thing is that the mailfiles it mentions still have working, current FTindexes. Does anyone have ANY ideas why I am getting this error, or how to stop it? Thank you! Domino Register; denied; access denied; domino Technote (troubleshooting) Problem You attempt to register a user through the Domino Administrator client, however, the registration fails. According to the local Notes log, the registration failed due to the following error: Error: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/ReleaseAllThreadedweb/b829168a644f85a08525727b005a3fda 'Access to Data Denied' Resolving the problem This error can occur if the Administrator's OS (operating system) account does not have the rights necessary to create files in the directory specified in the "ID Info > Location for Storing ID" http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21605670 section of the Register Person window. To resolve the issue change the "Location for Storing ID" to a path where the administrator has the rights to create files. A good test is to attempt to create a text document in the desired location before attempting to register a user to test if as the user you have the necessary permissions on the OS level. creating new memo or opening mail file Technote (FAQ) Question When you open your mailfile, create a new memo, or in some cases, switch among emails in the Preview pane, http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21093347 one of the following errors occur: "Access to data denied " or "Cannot create file " In cases where the error occurs when opening the mail file, you may also find that you are unable to move or delete the mailfile. Answer This issue can be caused by a number of reasons which are listed below: Lack of Free Space on PC Too many temporary files, too little free lotus notes space on the drive where the Windows Virtual Memory is located, or the Windows Virtual Memory settings are not large enough can cause this problem. To resolve this issue, clean out the temporary files (usually stored by default in the C:\Windows\Temp directory), clear up some free space on the drive, or modify the Windows Virtual Memory settings (Right-click My Computer, select Properties and on the Advanced tab, select Performance Options). access to data For more information on these areas, please consult your Microsoft Windows documentation. Virus Infection of Mail In at least one case, this issue was the result of incoming messages that were infected with the Netsky.D virus, however there was no room available to quarantine the files or mail database. Clearing enough space to allow the infected items to be quarantined and running a virus removal utility resolved the issue. Running Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2 or lower in combination with a Novell Netware Network In this case, upgrading to service pack 3 for Windows 2000 Professional resolved the issue. It is also recommended that the Novell network client be at least version 4.83. It was found that the specific issue above only happens on Novell Netware networks. In this case, the file C.Lotus.Notes.Data in temp directory of the user directory (C:\documents and settings\username......) had been corrupted or damaged. During troubleshooting it was found that if you check the attribute of the file C.Lotus.Notes.Data, it was not hidden, but if you explicitly stated that you wanted it to have the attrib of -h it worked for a while. Another workaround was to delete the C.Lotus.Notes.Data file and let Notes recreate it, but the issue would eventually r
