a primary server in order to replicate your Names & Address Book (NAB), you receive the following error message: "Notes Server is not a known TCP/IP Host." Cause In one case, an IP address that was in the Notes Network Ports Document --> tcp/ip troubleshooting commands Net Address section --> Net Address of TCP/IP field was different from the entry in the Server Document --> Basic panel --> Fully Qualified Internet Host Name. These two settings must match. Answer When the two settings were corrected and matched, the connection to the primary server worked. When you attempt to http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21085803 send an outgoing message, you receive the following error message: "The remote server is not a known TCP/IP host". However, you can ping the hostname of the SMTP server from a Microsoft Windows command prompt and a Connection Document was created to ensure that the hostname is translated to the correct http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21209889 IP address. Answer This issue can occur if Symantec's Norton Personal Firewall is installed. In another case, the same error occurred after outbound rule restrictions were added to a Cisco Pix Firewall configuration To verify if this is the issue, disable the firewall client and try to send the messages again. Refer to Symantec Product Support for any questions regarding how to configure the Norton Personal Firewall to allow POP and SMTP mail on the workstation, at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/. The server works fine for Notes based emails, but I'm generating emails from LotusScript in an app, and they are not sending. This server was recently created (Dom 8.5.3). I have the server sending email directly to the Internet on all location documents (for Notes client). lotus-domino server-administration share|improve this question edited Aug 21 '13 at 18:39 Richard Schwartz 9,49711232 asked Aug 21 '13 at not a known 12:25 Beau Schless 612 I edited the title to make it clear that this issue affects a Domino agent. It probably really is a Domino Administration issue, which would ordinarily belong on ServerFault instead of StackOverflow; but developers run into this problem a lot on test server so I'm not flagging it. –Richard Schwartz Aug 21 '13 at 18:41 If the answer and comments below haven't resolved the issue, I suggest that you enter the following command on your server console and paste the output into the question to give us further detail: "trace TCPIP!!!NB1/NOTEbookS" –Richard Schwartz Aug 21 '13 at 21:05 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote See IBM Technote #1099632 "Notes/Domino background agent fails to send mail; Errors may occur in logs": These errors may be caused by an improper entry for the Mail Server field in the Server document in the Domino Directory (public Name and Address Book). The errors may also be caused by a server configuration or TCPIP issue. For example, if the Network Address field for a TCPIP port contains either an incorrect host name or an IP address, the errors occur. If the DNS is not working correctly the errors will occur. The issue was noted in at least one case because the server was resolvable by IP address but not resolvable by Fully Qualified
