Lotus Notes Server Error This Database Cannot Be Read
an invalid on disk structure' sending Notes mail lotus notes; sending mail; error; Server Error; This database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure; messages Technote (troubleshooting) Problem In Lotus Notes, you receive the following error message when sending mail messages: "Server Error: This database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure". The mail still sends successfully. Resolving the problem This issue can occur if the user has "Always keep a copy" selected for the "Save mail that you sent" option under File > Preferences > User Preferences > Mail. If changing this setting to not keep a copy allows the user to successfully send the message, this would indicate a problem with the Sent folder being corrupt. Running fixup, compact and updall on the mail database should resolve the problem in this case. In one case, running these utilities did not resolve the issue and resulted in additional errors such as "Database is corrupt -- cannot allocate space." Further, when this database was opened in a browser, the error "HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - Special database object cannot be located" displayed. Finally, an attempt to recompile all of the LotusScript code in the database resulted in 'Invalid syntax' errors. The solution in this case was to create a new database for the user and copy/paste all existing documents into the new mail database (as in technote #1110903). Then when the size exceeded the limit , the limit was upgraded to 4 GB. Thereafter, there was a design refresh carried out to undertake some design enhancements. After this, the database was working fine, till 2days back. The size currently is - 2.5 GB. The series of errors in appropriate sequence are listed below:1. First an error was observed on accessing/adding the database icon - Server Error: This database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure- End User client2. Then, an attempt to force a COMPACT of the database but with no success. Also tried an UPDALL and a FIXUP. None of the Notes utilities can touch the database - the error "Object is corrupt" is returned.- Admin Client3. The database now gives the following message when we try to access it.-This Database cannot be opened because a consistency check of it is needed.- End User client4. Re-tried a COMPACT and FIXUP. Both failed with the error message:- Admin Client** Live console connected to server xxx**> xx/xx/2001 10:36:31 Performing consistency check onxxx.nsf...> 29/03/2001 10:36:38 Unable to fixup database xxx.nsf:File truncated - file may have been damagedNow, the question is :1. Is this a size problem ?2. When do these kind of errors occur & why?3. What are the possible solution to retrieve the database ?4. Is it likely to repeat and in what scenarios ?No one else has this questionMark as assumed answeredOutcomesVisibility: End User205 ViewsLast modified on Apr 24, 2015 3:08 PMCategories: SugarCRM Plug-insThis content has been marked as final.
