I get following error during client installation: The %1 service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly. This error is logged twice for services "Lotus Notes Diagnostics" and "Multi-user Cleanup Service". Following errors installation reverts. Disabling "Interactive Services Detection" service didn't help. Is there any way to enable interactive services system-wide? BTW. An attempt to copy client from 2008R2 server failed as well. The client displays splash screen, then shuts off without logging anything. So even if you get this running, no support for issues... But maybe this is just a test ? Nope, this is going to be a production deployment should it work. :) BTW, I resolved this problem. The issue is that installer doesn't support UNC source path (I was installing from \\server\share). It installed ok from the local disk. , no support for issues... And this is one of the many-many-many. Rays of curses towards Lotus Dev team. Simple and reliable solutions aren't their strong point. :) Edited by Eugene-p1 Tuesday, October 09, 2012 4:16 PM Proposed as answer by TP []MVP, Moderator Tuesday, October 09, 2012 4:45 PM Marked as answer by Clarence ZhangModerator Wednesday, October 10, 2012 6:07 AM Tuesday, October 09, 2012 4:16 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote The installation finished ok for Windows Server 2008R2 Edited by Eugene-p1 Monday, October 08, 2012 4:25 PM Monday, October 08
on 01/24/2008. Modified: 01/24/2008 09:42 AM Message An error was encountered while opening a window Synopsis We have the following problem: 1. We had to migrate our Citrix Terminal server farm to x64 due to memory usage (try running Outlook 2007 AND Notes 7.03 for more than 30 users). After the migration we could easily run 200 Notes 7.03 users on one 2CPU dual core server BUT Notes 7.03 started failing on startup in seamless, though https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/fbeab8d7-be49-4af3-bbc1-167afcbb55f3/lotus-notes-85-and-a-server-2012-remote-desktop-service-farm?forum=winserverTS Published Desktop works OK. 2. Then we decided to try Notes 8.0 Basic (when Notes.exe is run with the -sa parameter this should work according to IBM). When the users start Notes now the second user gets the error message: An error was encountered while opening a window. First user works great. Notes is installed according to IBMs recommendations http://www.codestore.net/errors.nsf/all/5E7909107C72B1CE852573DA0050CAB4?OpenDocument in the 'Steps for installing Lotus Notes 8 on a Citrix Presentation Server' technote with shared template directory. Have anyone else out there managed to get this working? What is a little funny is that if I run the two first sessions like this both users get to start Notes: User 1: "G:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\nlnotes.exe" -sa =H:\notes\data\Notes.ini -> User starts with Notes.ini from H:\Notes\Data User 2: "G:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\nlnotes.exe" -sa =W:\notes\data\Notes.ini -> User starts with Notes.ini from W:\Notes\Data, where W: has an exact copy of the uses H:\Notes\Data (Notes.ini contains Directory=W:\Notes\Data for the second session). If any other user starts from H:\Notes\Data or W:\Notes\Data after the two first, they will get the error message. We have run Notes 5,6,6.5 and 7 like this for years.
