Environment IBM Lotus Notes Standard 8.x/8.5.x IBM Notes Standard 9.x Resolving the problem Video Card Driver In most cases, the cause of the problem is due to the Video Graphics card driver. In one specific case, the cause of lotus notes disappears after login the error was an upgrade of the NVIDIA Quadro K2000 driver. For this particular case, the problem was resolved by creating an exception in the nViewer for the Lotus Notes application. In another reported case, the specific problem Nvidia driver was the 311.35-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql. The solution was to downgrade to an older version, in this case to 306.97. The Video Card configuration was Intel HD 3000 and Nvida Quadro 2000M with Optimus enabled. Another workaround has been to exclude the Notes processes from the nDriver (NVIDIA driver) functions. To disable nView functions from Notes, you must go in the Application view and enter the 3 main processes for Lotus Notes: notes.exe notes2.exe nlnotes.exe In one customer's case, adding Sametime.exe process alleviated the issue. After you select the application and click on Disable Button, in the "Disable nView Functions" dialog, disable the following option: "Enable nView Desktop Management for this Application and/or Class" On Windows 7/8, You will have to download "NVIDIA nView Desktop Ma

However, I cannot find clarification on this. Does anyone have any information that may help me? notes hangs, lotus notes not starting after entering password -- Syed Jahanzaib / Pinochio~:) @ 11:39 AM Today morning I faced problem in Lotus Notes Client (8.5.2) that after entering password, it hangs on Splash screen on Loading . . . https://aacable.wordpress.com/2013/02/04/lotus-notes-8-5-hangs-at-splash-screen-after-entering-password/ .Please wait and it loops forever , or some times it exit automatically after entering password. As showed in the image below . . . . I did the following to resolve it. First try this quick fix. Open http://dontpanic82.blogspot.com/2009/01/use-nsd-kill-when-killnotes-doesnt-work.html Task Manager and end all the notes related tasks, e.g notes2.exe nlnotes.exe rcplauncher.exe Now try to launch Notes Client again, if it showed the same issue of hanging, then proceed with the following FIX. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- Open Task Manager lotus notes and end all the notes related tasks, e.g notes2.exe nlnotes.exe rcplauncher.exe Now Delete all the contents in the folder \Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\workspace (For Win7 64 Bit) C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\workspace (For Win7 32 Bit) C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Notes\Data\workspace As showed in the image below . . . . Now restart Lotus Notes client. Hopefully it will start without any issue this time🙂 TIP: [You can also rename the workspace folder to some other name like workspace.old1 and restart lotus notes 9 lotus notes, it will recreate the fresh folder and files again] Always try to use latest version of Lotus Notes client with its FP. As of writing the last version of notes client (in 8.x series) is 8.5.3 with FP3 available. (July 2013) Regard's Syed Jahanzaib 24.851000 67.008300 Like this:Like Loading... Comment by Lars -- June 4, 2013 @ 7:39 PM Reply We did the opposite to resolve the issue of Notes 8.5.3 flashing on the screen for about 1/2 a second then disappearing after inputting the password. We went to the Data folder and renamed the Workspace folder to Workspaceold. We shut the system down and relaunched Notes. It came up clean. We didn't delete any files inside of the Workspace folder. We thank you for the tip and will keep it in mind for future reference. work Today, I got a "Shared memory error" after the Notes client crashed.KillNotes didn't clean all the processes. This resulted in not being able to start Notes again. I did a little search, and found the solution.I created a small bat-file that executes the NSD-command. If you want to use it, you probably have to change the line that has the path to Notes, "cd \Program Files\lotus\notes\" to fit your environment. Specially when Notes crashes 3 times in a row. And, more importantly: no end-user understands .bat. Which is a good thing, they would just make a mess of it... Interesting, I switched to killnotes.exe since the nsd -kill never worked well for me. I had used zapnotes before which worked well too. April 7, 2009 at 7:59:00 PM GMT+1 Tommy Valand said... The great/dangerous thing about "nsd -kill" vs killnotes is that the nsd-method tries to "kill" all Notes/Domino tasks whereas killnotes closes only the client tasks.A certain plugin (won't name names) locks the HTTP-task so that you can't kill it using the admin console. Using the nsd method, you can close down the Domino server cleanly without having to restart the computer.(I'm no admin, so if there is a better way than the nsd-method for closing a server when the admin console won't, please don't crucify me..)
