Some database on your machine must be corrupt. Because it is occuring as soon as you open Notes, I'm guessing it is your address book (names.nsf). It could also be the file that defines the workspace (desktop6.ndk). Try these steps. First, find your Lotus Notes Data directory. Find the file desktop6.ndk. Change its name to desktop6.old. Then, delete cache.ndk. Now start Notes. A new desktop6.ndk will be created with no workspace icons. You will have to re-add them (your mail database and anything else you use). If that doesn't work, find the bookmark.nsf database and delete it. Start Notes. If that doesn't work, open a command window (Start > Run > cmd > OK). Change Directory (CD) to your Notes application folder, (e.g. CD C:\Lotus\Notes). Type these commands, one after the next. Let each run to completion before trying the next one. nfixup -f ncompact -c -i -d nupdall -r Start Notes. If that doesn't work, it may be your notes ID file. Request a new one from backup from your adminstrative team. Hope something her

Answer I. General information A Notes client crash is characterized by an abnormal termination of the Notes client application. Most abnormal terminations will an error has occurred in a lotus notes application 9 force Notes to create a diagnostic file (NSD file) containing information about the workstation experiencing the crash. In most cases, the information in the NSD file is not enough to diagnose a Notes client crash but is http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/lotus-notes-653-error-nsd-is-running/ used by Lotus Support as the first step in troubleshooting. When contacting Lotus Support regarding Notes client crashes, please consider the following troubleshooting questions: 1. How many machines are crashing? If multiple machines experience identical crashes, one machine will be isolated for troubleshooting. If the cause of the crash can be determined from one machine and a workaround results from troubleshooting, the same workaround will be applied to the other problem machines. If multiple machines http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21153833 crash for different reasons, a new Problem Management Record must be opened for each crash. 2. Was an NSD file (Notes .RIP in R5) generated as a result of the crash? 3. Were there any error messages displayed during the crash? 4. What was the user doing at the time of the crash? 5. How often does the crash occur? 6. Can the crash be reproduced at will? If so, what are the exact steps to reproduce the crash? 7. What other programs, applications, and operating system tasks were running at the time of the crash? 8. Was Notes installed by CD, over the network, or via image? NOTE: It is critical that particular NSD or RIP files can be attributed to particular user actions. If the NSD or RIP files are all of different crash types, then specifics on what was occurring at the time must be presented, or else the information may be of no value. Additionally, in cases where multiple crashes are being reported, for example, in an ADC database, the crashes should be categorized by Fatal Stack content. If a user experiences a number of crashes, have them note what they were doing (during each crash) and the time it occurred. (In a RIP file, the "When" entry reflects the time of the crash; in an NSD, t

I used to get this error message at apparently random times of the day, and I'd often have to reboot to get Notes back.We never did find the cause, but it didn't seem to affect users with newer, higher-spec PCs, so its possible that its related to CPU resources, RAM, etc. RE: error message "nsd is running" killpass123 (TechnicalUser) 18 May 05 04:03 Hi scalie,I had a similar problem with my notes client recently , no sure whether you continue to face the same problem now. I used to get "NSD is running" error when ever i tried to add/save attachements in notes. I checked the ACL on the folder where the notes client is installed. everything was fine. I just re-created the user's login profile. Luckily problem got resolved. RE: error message "nsd is running" pmonett (Programmer) 18 May 05 05:44 Have you tried running KillNotes t

Programe is working well on 90% documents in database.but in 10% i am suffering with errors in New Database created by program mainly "the NSD is running" because it terminates lotus. can you please suggest what is exactly the problem? At the time, you already got several errors in C and in the database, and instead of correcting the errors you settled for fixing up the database produced. And now Notes gives up, which seems quite logical to me, for an application that works on only 90% of the documents isn't a good and fully tested application at all. We also told you that your application needs to follow the programming rules exactly and I assume you didn't take that advice. So, IMHO the problem is the developer of the application... I'm afraid that there aren't many people here who can help you. There probably are some serious mistakes in your code, so you might need a C-API specialist who's willing to read through all of your code. Are you willing to post that code here? For example, do you have one or more working tes
