Because it is occuring as soon as you open Notes, I'm guessing it is your address book (names.nsf). It could also be the file that defines the workspace (desktop6.ndk). Try these steps. First, find your Lotus Notes Data directory. Find the file desktop6.ndk. Change its name to desktop6.old. Then, delete cache.ndk. Now start Notes. A new desktop6.ndk will be created with no workspace icons. You will have to re-add them (your mail database and anything else you use). If that doesn't work, find the bookmark.nsf database and delete it. Start Notes. If that doesn't work, open a command window (Start > Run > cmd > OK). Change Directory (CD) to your Notes application folder, (e.g. CD C:\Lotus\Notes). Type these commands, one after the next. Let each run to completion before trying the next one. nfixup -f ncompact -c -i -d nupdall -r Start Notes. If that doesn't work, it may be your notes ID file. Request a new one from backup from your adminstrative team. Hope something here does the trick. Some database on your machine must be corrupt. I have tried restoring from backup and reinstalling the client.Any SuggestionsThanks in advance RE: error message "nsd is running" fishkake (MIS) 4 Mar 05 09:25 I have seen this problem many times, but never so consistent. I used to get this error message at apparently random times of the day, and I'd often have to reboot to get Notes back.We never did find the cause, but it didn't seem to affect users with newer, higher-spec PCs, so its possible that its related to CPU resources, RAM, etc. RE: error message "nsd is running" killpass123 (TechnicalUser) 18 May 05 04:03 Hi scalie,I had a similar problem with my notes client recently , no sure whether you continue to face the same problem now. I used to get "NSD is running" error when ever i tried to add/save attachements in notes. I checked the ACL on the folder where the notes client is installed. everything was fine. I just re-created the user's login profile. Luckily problem got resolved. RE: error messa
resides on file server client crash; notes crash; no nsd; nlnotes crash Technote (troubleshooting) Problem You receive reports that some Notes 8.5.1.x clients (Basic or Standard) terminate abnormally while users perform various http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21431732 operations. An NSD log file is not generated, and the issue often occurs in, but is not limited to, Citrix environments. Cause Due to a combination of (1) NSD running as an operating system service, and (2) https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21156068/Error-message-NSD-Is-Running.html the Notes data directory being stored on a remote file server (which is an unsupported configuration). Resolving the problem This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# TMDS84FRWM. Storing the Notes data directory on a file server lotus notes is not supported. For more information, see technote #1086958 - "Is running Client Notes.ini and/or Notes Data directory on a File Server a supported configuration?" Starting in 8.5.2, the following message will be given if NSD runs when the Data directory is on a File Server: "WARNING (0): NSD has detected that the data directory x:\data is being hosted on a mapped network drive. NSD cannot run as a service under this configuration. Please disable what is nsd the Lotus Notes Diagnostics service." NSD will continue run as simple task if it's run manually, as a crash or panic. Workaround for builds prior to 8.5.2: To resolve the issue, move the data directory to a local drive on the user's workstation (or to the Citrix server, if applicable). However, if doing that is not an immediate option, you can work around the issue by disabling NSD from running as a service. This will allow NSD to run and generate NSD logs. Go to Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools --> Services Locate the "Lotus Notes Diagnostics" operating system service Right-click on the service, and go to "Properties" Under the "Startup Type" option, change it from "Automatic" to "Manual". In the "Services Status" section, click on the "Stop" button. If the data directory is stored locally on a workstation, NSD will run when an exception is caught, or when run manually. Or, if the NSD service is "stopped", then NSD will run when an exception is caught, or when run manually. NOTE: This technote describes one of three issues involving Notes Basic 8.5.1.x clients intermittently disappearing, silently crashing, and terminating abnormally without generating an NSD. For information on the other issues, see the following technote: "Knowledge Collection: Troubleshooting issues with Notes Basic 8.5.1.x clients disappearing and crashing without generating NSDs" (technote #1438611). Everything Notes that ran on the PC is terminated and the whereabouts of the CPU are recorded. The information is only useful to Notes specialists @ Lotus most of the time. You could try 1. to reinstall the R6 software over the current installation, there might be executables or DLL's corrupted. 2. to rename both the Notes executables directory and the data directory to something else, and install a fresh client. If you installed a new Notes client, before starting the client you can try to move some db's back, like desktop*.* and names.nsf. If it crashes again, then you have to do a fresh install. But first of all, you u
