but when I put it in, it says "Memory Card Error" and won't let me take pictures or format it. I tried it on my sons Powershot SD1100, however, and it worked fine for him. Any ideas why it won't work? I looked it up, and apperently it now comes with a 16GB card, so it can't be that the card is too big, I assume. Help!?! So, your 4GB card is an SDHC card. Unfortunately, only cameras released early 2007 and onwards are able to use SDHC cards, meaning older cameras like the S2 IS model (released in 2005) are not compatible with SDHC cards. So, you're limited to 2GB SD cards... Source(s): http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Ca... Has anyone here experienced the "Memory Card Error" problem on their Canon S2? I've had this problem & after searching Google, found quite a few people on another https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090724172826AAjAclW camera forum saying they've had this problem. Their theories included certain memory cards (though there didn't seem to be a pattern there), low battery (though my battery was nearly full), going from off directly to play rather than going to record first, or needing a firmware update from Canon. Circuit City has a 30-day return policy & I've had my camera now for a month and a half, so I can't return it... I really like it & would like to keep it anyway, but it's not much use http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?11598-S2-Memory-Card-Error if it keeps freezing up with the memory card error, so I'm kinda stuck right now. Wondering if any of you have had this problem, and if so, have you found a fix or figured out what caused it in the first place? Thanks in advance! 08-26-2005,08:22 PM #2 harran Guest Re, memory card problem, I've had "memory card problem" with an new 1 gb SD card. Surprisingly this sd card worked another canon digital camera. Now I am using 1 gb A-Data brand MMC card without any problem. I think you must change your sd card. Originally Posted by TxMedEd Hi! My name is XXXXX XXXXX it would be my pleasure to help with your issue.Readyrmca : If you've checked the switches on the memory card and they memory card error are not in the locked position, and you are still getting the card locked message, then you most likely have bent or broken pins in your card slot. Shine into the empty card slot with a flashlight and look for anything that looks bent or out of place. If you can see a bent pin you can try straightening it with a pick. Plastic picks are best, XXXXX XXXXX you must use a metal pick, make sure the camera is powered off with the batteries removed.Readyrmca : Hopefully you'll be able to see the issue and resolve it, but if not you will have to send the camera in to have the card slot repaired or replaced. lReadyrmca : Let me know how it goes and if there's anything else that I can do to help. Readyrmca : Please don't forget to accept and leave positive feedback if I've been helpful. Thanks!!Customer: Hi, that is not the issue, I have since found a sd card that works, it is the sd HC cards that are no longer working.Readyrmca : Ok. Thanks for the info. I'm really happy to hear that you don't actually have an issue with your card slot. I have to help all to many customers that bend the pins in their card slots by inserting the cards backwards and trying to force them in. You have gotten it resolved and
