Has canon s2 is manual anyone here experienced the "Memory Card Error" problem on their Canon S2? I've had this problem & after searching Google, found quite a few people on another camera forum saying they've had this problem. Their theories included certain memory cards (though there didn't seem to be a pattern there), low battery (though my battery was nearly full), going from off directly to play rather than going to record first, or needing a firmware update from Canon.
Canon Powershot S2 Is Memory Card Limit
Circuit City has a 30-day return policy & I've had my camera now for a month and a half, so I can't return it... I really like it & would like to keep it anyway, but it's not much use if it keeps freezing up with the memory card error, so I'm kinda stuck right now. Wondering if any of you have had this problem, and if so, have you found a fix or figured out what caused it in the first place? Thanks in advance! 08-26-2005,08:22 PM #2 harran Guest Re, memory card problem, I've had "memory card problem" with an new 1 gb SD card. Surprisingly this sd card worked another canon digital camera. Now I am using 1 gb A-Data brand MMC card without any problem. I think you must change your sd card. Originally Posted by TxMedEd Hi! All that time I've used a 1GB Apacer SD card with no problems. About a month ago camera started acting up, giving me intermittent "memory card error" messages. One time it had reset the memory card file counter. These errors occurred usually after I had used my laptop's internal card reader to unload photos and put the card back to camera. Usually cleaning card's contacts with a q-tip fixed it (even though those couldn't been dirty after several cleanings per day). Errors became more frequent until last weekend when camera became completely unable to read or write on the card and the usual remedies helped no more. This card still works memory card error great in other cameras and in computer's card reader but not in the S2. I have tried formatting the card in computer, no luck. I have tried formatting in camera but that option in menu is unavailable. Canon's Zoombrowser thinks there's no card in camera at all but its remote capture thingy that stores photos directly to computer works flawlessly. I don't have other cards to try and I don't want to buy another <2GB card because the next card I plan to buy will be at least 8GB (which is more than S2 can handle). So, what do you think, is my S2 toast?Canon S2 ISLOG IN TO REPLY sponsored links (this ad will go away when you log in as registered member) sue.tsue.tGoldmember1,163 postsGallery: 25 photosJoined Nov 2008Yukon, CanadaMore infoApr 15, 2010 10:10|#2The only way to know for sure is to try another card in the camera. Cards fail and cameras fail.
