At first glance I thought this was a problem with the memory card but I was soon getting the dreaded "memory card error" and the E50 error when trying to reformat the CF.After googling and searching these and other forums I saw various solutions proposed: blast the CF slot with compressed air memory card or hairdryer; dismantle the camera and reset it by removing the internal battery; send it (and $180) off to Canon for repair , clean the battery contacts, unbend or clean CF pins, etc.I noted that the error only appeared when a CF card was inserted and assumed, as several people before me have, that the problem could be with the contacts to the CF card... memory card error therefore my candidate solution:Insert a CF card and eject/reinsert it rapidly, many times. This removed the E50/memory card error for me and the camera seems to function again. My explanation is that there is some sort of corrosion on the CF pins and the abrasive action removes enough to regain contact.I have no idea how short-term this solution is as I only tried it an hour ago and so far the camera is still working without errors.I would be interested to know if this works for anyone else... and I'll let you know whether (or how quickly) the problem returns for me.Cheers... I clean the pins, and blew air through the card memory card slot. It worked for awhile, then the e50 error show up again. Now it is unusable. So I brought a Casio EX-Z120 for $249.95. Maybe on the newer Canon small cameras, SD450,
