When I place the memory stick in the camera, I get the canon camera memory card locked infamous "Memory Card Error" and "Card Locked!" messages. Other memory cards work in the camera, but the weird thing is, my computer totally recognizes the 2 GB memory stick. Both the camera AND the memory stick are less than canon powershot sd1000 memory card 3 days old, and I have no idea what the issue is. Canon email help was of no assistance (no surprise there), and out of all the forums and webpages I have visited, nothing has remedied this issue. Hopefully someone here may have a solution to this annoying problem. Thanks in advance to all! "2 GB Turbo High Speed 150x SD card", huh? That's a mouth full. See if it's got a sliding lock/unlock switch on the the card (front, back or one of the edges). Some do, and it may be in the locked position (or in between positions). I bought one and problem cured . Just as well as I was about to bin the camera !!! Was this answer helpful? Thank you Ask Your Own Camera and Video Question Customer: replied5 years ago. I have taken it out and switched it a couple of time prior to sending you the message. It did not help. Any other suggestions? Expert: Russell A. replied5 years ago. First, reset the camera to the default settings using the instructions below. Attachments are only available to registered users.RegisterHereIf the problem is not solved by the reset then, it sounds like the micro switch that senses the memory card lock tab is sticking or is slightly shortened or worn. Two suggestions. 1 Get a can of compressed air an blow out the slot. 2 Try another memory card or two. There is some variance in size and the way that they seat in the slot may make the difference. If the camera were older a little electrical contact cleaner in the slot might help, but only as a last resort.Note: Considering the age and present value of this camera, paying the cost of having it repaired , approximately $125 - $150 really depends on how attached to the camera you are.
