I apologise if this is the wrong forum, but
Msi Error Code 1603
the error seems to indicate this is related to SCCM, and I have never seen this error prior to installing the SCCM Clients. An issue I have found (which only
Msi Error 1708
seems to be happening on our Windows XP machines) is when we physically go to Add\Remove Programs and try to uninstall a piece of software, it cannot complete the process. It starts uninstalling (and even removes the desktop icons), but then it gives the below error, and I have to cancel the uninstall. It then rolls back the uninstall (and puts the error 2732.directory manager not initialized fix icons back on the desktop) The error is: Product: Program Name -- Error 1306.Another application has exclusive access to the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\CCM\Logs\PolicyAgentProvider.log. Please shut down all other applications, then click Retry. I apologise if this is not an SCCM thing, but the file mentioned in the error seems to be related to SCCM. Would the agent being installed on a machine prevent a program being uninstalled? The Program being uninstalled was not installed by SCCM. In fact, there have been no packages pushed to these PCs. The only thing installed by SCCM was the client itself. At some point in the past, a software packager at your company 'repackaged' that application (or every application) using something like Wise or Installshield to repackage. And, that Software packager used as it's computer to create that repackage; a system which had the ConfigMgr clie

Answers 0 Download Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com Search for the handle (INDEX.MAP), it may be a service holding the file and if so you maybe have to stop the server before removing the file and then start it at the end of the http://www.itninja.com/question/error-1306-when-uninstalling-software removal of the applicaton. Try stopping it using net stop "service name" or the SC (windows xp) command Answered 12/06/2006 by: AngelD Please log in to comment Please log in to comment 0 Hi Yes I found the handle it was complaining about and stopped it from running, and the program uninstalled fine. In this case, windowsupdate.log. msi error I don't believe this file should be in your package in the first place. hld103104-13-2006, 10:00 AMBuilt several packages using AdminStudio 7 Repackager wizard. Some packages work fine. However, when uninstalling some I receive “Error 1306. Another application has exclusive access to the file C:\WINNT\WindowsUpdate.log. Please shut down all other applications, then click Retry.” This happens in both Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro and Microsoft Windows XP directory manager not Pro. I have checked the Open Files under Computer Management, and do not show any files open. I can discontinue MSIEXEC.EXE from the Task Manager, and sometimes this allows me to continue uninstalling the item. Also, when I do happen to have a successful uninstall of a packaged produce and try to uninstall another product (packaged or not), occasionally I receive ”Error 1704.An installation for the last package that was uninstalled successfully is currently suspended. You must undo the changes made by that installation to continue. Do you want to undo those changes?” When you click Yes, the last package that was uninstalled tries to reinstall. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
