Msi Error 26352
fails with error code 26352. cause In version 5.xxx of the products, we did a major re-write of the installers. Part of this change was to move from per-machine installs to per-user installs. With per-user installs, the Addin loader is a little more particular with security for addins. All addin's must be signed with a certificate and trusted on the machine. Our installers ship with our certificate and intermediate certificates to be installed if they are needed. Without these certificates installed on the machine, the addin loader will declare our addin's "unsafe" and not execute them. So placing our certificates during install is crucial. Unfortunately, the installation cannot always determine if there is already an intermediate certificate installed on the machine prior to attempting to install our certificates. If one exists in either the personal store, or the local machine store, we can sometimes get this error message (it is not all together clear the exact scenarios for when this detection fails). resolution The easiest solutions to fixing this problem is to manually remove the existing intermediate certificate prior to installation. This will cause the installer to correctly write the same certificate back to the machine. The manual steps to find if you have this intermediate certificate already installed are here: Open a cmd prompt. Type: mmc (this will launch the standard MMC snapin tool from Microsoft.) Go to File->Add/Remove Snap-ins On the left column, select “Certificates” Click “Add >” Select “Computer Account”. Select “Next” then choose “Local Computer” and Finish. Repeat Steps 3-6 but choose “My User Account” instead. Click “OK” to close the Add/Remove dialog. Expand the nodes in the “Certificates (Local Computer)” to find the “VeriSign Class 3 Code Signing 2010 CA” certificate. It will probably be under the “Intermediate Certification Author

If the certificate the installer was trying to add already existed in the Group Policy store, then the install would fail, since the user would not have permission to delete from that store (although they http://www.teamsystemsolutions.com/support/knowledge-base/installation-fails-with-error-code-26352.aspx can through the MMC). If the cert exists in any other combination of stores, it seems to work. Here's the steps to reproduce -Generate a CA cert -Open mmc, and add the certificates snapin for the local computer -Right click the Certificates (Local Computer) node, and select View->options -Leave the view mode as Logical stores, and check off the Show Physical certificate stores option -Click OK -Expand the Group policy https://sourceforge.net/p/wix/bugs/1369/ node, right click on the Certificates folder, and select All Tasks->Import -Import your certificate into the store -Create an installer that installs the certificate into the local machine store using the IIS extension (e.g.
