running into this run-time "Internal Error 2705. Directory". The InstallShield failed with the message said "1628: Fail to complete installation". I checked the error code 1628 from msi, which said "Invalid or unknow table specified". How can I find out the cause of the error? Please help! Fanny NewsArchive12-06-2001, 01:00 AMThis means that your directory table is corrupted. This usually happens when you have a directory entry that references something non existent as its parent. I think that if your run validation on the MSI package it will tell you which directory entry is having the problem. You could then use the direct editor to correct this condition. However, while you are using the InstallShield Tuner for Lotus Notes to set up your MST file the following error message occurs: "Internal Error 2705. Directory" Steps to reproduce issue: 1. Locate the InstallShield Tuner for Lotus msi error 2705 Notes Domino installation CD (in the \Apps\InstallShield Tuner for Lotus Notes folder) and install it (run Setup.exe). Note: For testing purposes it is good to place the \AllClient folder on your local hard drive. 2. Launch InstallShield Tuner for Lotus Notes and select the correct .itw file. This is found on the CD in the \AllClient folder, and you use "LotusNotes.itw". 3. Select the MSI file needed, which is "Lotus Notes 6.msi" (from the same directory). Does anybody know what is causing this? Thanks RE: Internal Error 2705 RobSchultz (Programmer) 25 Jun 03 08:43 The 2705 error means you have an directory that "can't be linked as tree".Look at the directory table directly (Setup Editor -> Tables) and see if any are highlighted red.If so, then fix the problem. If not then run your install with the following command line: msiexec /I "full path to msi" /L*V c:\install.logThis will write and install log that may point you in the right direction as all directories used in the installation are displayed near the top of the file.Barring that, if you have the professional version, you can also run the install in the debugger.HtH, Robrobschultz@yahoo.com-Focus on the solution to the problem, not the obstacles in the way.- RE: Internal Error 2705 bhogaj31 (IS/IT--Management) 4 Sep 03 07:53 I am getting the same error but using Installshield Adminstudio 5.Where do I look with Adminstudion developer to correct it .Regards Jat RE: Internal Error 2705 RobSchultz (Programmer) 4 Sep 03 10:46 Jat,If you are compiling to MSI then you can use the same troubleshooting techniques."Directory" and logging are MSI functions not bound by any one packaging tool.As to how to get to the "Directory" table in Installshi
